 Hi All Another quick update, the decks have now all been planked and trenailed and the hardwood edgeing added. The pre-cut ply gun port strips have been placed in position using the supplyed pin pusher and nails , there are 4 per side the pics show the bottom three in place so one more to add on each side. Hi All the last of the ply cannon port templates have been fitted these are stained on the inside as per the instructions, I am hoping that there will be some planking here but if not I have some planks that will do fine here. Three of the gratings have been made up and fixed in position, that compleats the hull up to pack 6 soon the planking will start   . Hi All Started the 1st layer of planking in basswood, the transom bottom curve is done first then the side hull is planked from the bottom of the ply cannon ports upwards cutting out the cannon ports by hand as you progress up the hull. Hi All More planking done and nearly reached the top before running out of strakes [ I also used the strakes of the same size left over from the akagi/yamato builds] so now im awaiting the next batch. The upper cannon ports still need cutting out I have left location cuts to aid finding them and the stern and prow ends still need trimming back. There are some ladders to be made up but I will finish the hull before they are made up and fitted.
