Hello all,
There is a wind vane to fit on top of the pilot house, and it will be externally complete. Inside there is glazing, a wheel, a telegraph, and a stove to fit. The first layer of hull planking is done, and rough sanded, a little bit more filler then fine sanding and layer 2.
Regards,
Tony.

stevie_o, sadly it took long enough, I wound up with a slight modification of Karl 1113's method.

Hello all,
2nd layer of hull planking complete, but I am not very happy with the bow, I could not get some of the planking to lie flat, which means sanding and filler, The boiler room is almost complete, the planking needs sanding and the ends smoothed. The engine room is under way, the aft end is open, and so should show engine details. Here are a couple of pics.
Regards,
Tony.

Hello all,
The hull is complete and the deck attached, it has been primed and a coat of satin black applied, it will need at least one more coat.I have sat the deck structures in place to show where they go. The boilers will occupy the aft half of the forward housing, and the engines the after one. The other photo shows the 1st deck cabin sides, the big window faces forward. As I am building it the hull frames and keel are 5mm ply and the decks and structures 4mm ply. If anyone else decides to have a go, I would suggest using 4mm and 3mm ply, it will cut down weight, and save on cost.
More later,
Regards,
Tony.

Hello all,
Progress has slowed somewhat, as I have various hospital and doctors appointments over the next few weeks. Nothing serious at the moment.
The main deck has been planked and stained, the first deck cabin structure is assembled, and the port side remains to be planked; then painted. The next job will be to make the doors and windows for the cabin. The engine and boiler rooms have been painted. I got a local business to make me 0.5l of matt white paint, as there is quite a large area to be painted white, and it works out cheaper than buying small pots.
More later,
Regards,
Tony.

Hello all,
Most of my efforts this week have gone into the Victory cross section, the final parts for this are due at the beginning of December. On completion I will be sending it as a gift to some friends in the USofA, whether it makes it as a Christmas gift is in the lap of the gods. I have made and glazed the fwd window on the 1st deck cabin structure, and glazed the pilot house. The second deck cabins are under way, and some of the wood for the engines has arrived. I should be able to make a little more progress this next week.
Kind regards,
Tony.

Hello all,
The second deck (4 pieces) and the third deck (3 pieces) have been assembled, both decks have been partially planked; and the reinforcements fitted underneath. The second deck cabin s have been assembled, the planking on the port side has to be completed; before sanding and painting. There is still a little bit to do on the second deck, to make the cabin fit properly. That is also the heavy sanding just about done, (time for a thorough clean up), next will probably be the cabin doors and shutters.
Regards,
Tony.

Hello all,
Second deck planking completed, stained and varnished, openings to be cut for ladders and funnels. A start has been made on the first deck cabin doors and shutters, these are fiddly and time consuming to make. I have been making one, and then done something else or just left it alone for a while. The fore and aft cabin windows have been made for the second deck. The horse boxes have been made and fitted fwd of the engine room. Hopefully more next week.
Regards,
Tony.
