Made a start on issue 64 and the first thing to do was to finally adjust the height of the bullworks on the main deck.... After cleaning up the base strip of the railings I then gave them 2 coats of walnut stain. When dry glued and clamped into position ensuring they post holes lined up with the port spars. Also ensured the base strips protruded the hull by 1mm.. Moved onto staining the uprights... instructions say to stain sapele but I wasn't too keen on this so decided to give them 2 coats of medium oak instead and am happier with how it looked... Took the two oak stained 3 x 3mm strips and cut 20 pieces each of 20mm in length. Glued these into the locating holes in the railing base.... found this to be a very neat fit indeed and caution needs to be taken not to use too much force in inserting these posts..... .. While drying I cut out and stained with walnut the upper railing strip after cleaning off the ash... did a dry fit and a big word of caution here, the strips are very fragile around the locating holes so do not force the uprights into the locating holes or disaster will occur.... I was a little too heavy handed and snapped it in two .. a little final repair work will be needed but nothing serious... Decided to take a 2mm fine square file and very gently cleaned the inside of the locating holes, this made the fit much easier and neater.... .. Will continue with the railing tomorrow..... Happy building all.. Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Thanks for the kind words Trev... just hope your itch doesn't become so unbearable for you, remember resistance is certainly futile with this build... Regards Alan

Hi Alan. Those railings really add to her character now, starting to add real depth to the waist area too, well done (and I love the colour scheme!) I finally managed to find some references for the Marines she carried, they are similar to the uniforms we thought but even more colourful! If I can get some correct scale railway figures I think I'll have a go at them! Keep 'em coming and where's the Titanic in the background! Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1
