What is a photosynth I hear you all asking?? Blink

Apart from spending a lot of my life since March logged into this forum, I am also meant to be keeping an eye out for new I.T. developments. This is the latest offering from Microsoft (I know taking over the world etc.)

I have used my launch as a guinea pig for my first photosynth experiment. If you follow the launch you can see my half finished launch from different angles. Please have a go and I would appreciate your comments on both the technology and my build Huh

Victory Launch photosynth

Please remember this is a first attempt so be gentle with me! Cool

When you get bored with mine, there are some links on the photosynth site to Victory views and Victory models. You can start with the link I gave you.

Had a TechNet flash about this sometime ago but only gave it a cursory glance at the time...will have to look into it a bit more now as it looks extremely good.Oh dear I feel a headache coming on as I have a mate who likes using things like that but needs it explaining everytime.

Nice one Magpie.

Cool

I kind of figured that you would need to take masses of photos for a really good result.

Still, a nice find.

If you follow my link to the website you can open an account if you already have a Microsoft ID. You might have to establish that first from the Microsoft website.

The interesting thing is that the whole thing is free.

There have been stitching programs around for some years but being a mean so-and-so and having lived 'up-north' for a long time, I have never put my hand in my pocket to buy one!

This is great software Mike! BigGrin I would love to use it but unfortunatly I must admit that I'm still struggling with Photobucket dispite of Magpie's excellent "how to" a couple of weeks ago. I must be thick, so anyway I have weeks worth of pics waiting to be posted eventually!BigGrin

Hi Pam

I don't use photobucket so can't comment. I optimise my photos offline and then upload to one of my websites to make them accessible.Mellow

I notice that Colin (Zeptrader) has provided links for a lot more Victory photos which have been stored on the Google equivalent to photobucket. I have found the link for you Google Photo Gallery

Google are also offering Picasa 3 which is a free picture editing and management package to help you upload what you need. I haven't tried it so again can't comment but it's worth a try. I know there are other forum members who say they have no photo editing software. It would be good to get away from some of the huge image files that some members are posting so we can see the models without downloading too much data.

If you set up a Google account and then follow the on-screen instructions perhaps you will find that easier and we can all see your build photos. Cool

You can then tell us all how easy (or not) the process was.
