As I was adding the topics to the Index it was becoming clear there are certain area's that could do with more information, more in the lines of stains, waxes ect

Maybe you could come up with a topics that will be relevant to the whole build as opposed to a small part for example the Launch, I dont know, just putting the feelers out.

An idea from me, I was going to knock up a small section of planking and show the differences in Danish Oil, Beeswax and Stain, this would also incorporate the different ways to plank decks, different systems they used, 3 or 4 butt shift system.

Another idea would to be a demo (pictures) of deck chalking, from cotton to pencil or black markers, side by side to show comparison.

I think we will soon be needing this with the lower decks.

What's your ideas?

Yep, pictures will go along with what I had in mind, I dont know if the Danish Oil would come up well in pictures but worth a try eh.

I'll see what I can come up with today to make a start.

But I'm really excited about the hair braider rope walk thingy, to me that looks like it could work and again a simple selection of ideas to go along with it. Well done Magpie, the video was good as well.

Just had an idea, regarding the stickey's and Index of Topics (otherwise know as how to's) what about setting up a simple blog, our blog, used by all regular posters, not to take anything away from this great forum but an addition to it. It just poped into me 'ead, I can pop out again so thought best to write it here.

Perhaps a tutorial or tips of some kind on masking off for painting.
Reason for this,having spent hours & hours rescuing my launch & getting it to look smooth & unblemished & using several thin coats of white on hull which I let harden off completely for a week before attempting the ochre stripe,when I removed the low tack masking tape(used by pin stripers)it has taken chunks out of the white,in some places right down to the wood
Although I have touched it up to a reasonable standard I have ordered another issue 6 to make one that I am happy with straight away(avoiding my previous mistakes,it may be useful to have a paint expert demonstrate the right way of doing things as well as the right materials.

Maybe Stedders could help with that one, I've not painted any of my ship so I could not offer help on that one, sorry fellas.

not an expert by any means but i would use Tamiya masking tape
got something to do with the tackiness of the tape
sounds like your tape was on for too long tackiness acting like a glue when removing

Definitely tamiya tape..
I use it on all my models. Doesn't remove any paint. even if it was only painted an hour earlier.(not recommended though).
The tack on it is just right and you get minimal bleed under the tape if any at all.

Well there's a tut for ya, someone make a short tut on what is the best tape to use for masking, I dont have any Tamiya tape so can't do it, but take some pics a little text and its sorted.

Ive used making tape for years to do water-lines and small areas and the best that Ive found is Tamiya, though it is expensive around £3.99 a roll Ive never had any bleed through, or paint taken of at the most inconvenient time its low tack as well and you can get it in all sizes from 1mm through to 20mm most model shops stock it as its a brand leader
