Thanks Hans,
I havent done anything to the Vic in the last week as I have other things going on but began again last night with making the 150 or so chainlinks for under the chainwales (issue 88). I used black wire to avoid painting the brass but it may be a little too glossy, not sure yet. Pics soon anywayBigGrin

Well, back on the Vic after a bit of a delay, been doing the chain things under the chainwales, as said in last post the wire is black brass to avoid having to paint it, it is a bit shiny but a a quick brush with dullcote sorts that out. I have finished all these on one side now so will continue the rest tomorrow.

Really nice work there Steve, i look forward to your progress and also to getting back to my Vic.

As for the ale, not had that one but great to see a man with a good taste for the real ale.

Will show the next bottle in the next set of pics.

Great work

Hi Steve,BigGrin BigGrin

Looking good mate, "the chain things" look fab.

Only issue i can see is the booze, a bottle of "Captain Morgans" may be more apt.

Although it may not do the Vic any favours.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Good Luck

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone, Im working on the other side right now. When finished I will go over each one and try to straighten out the links as best I can as the pics above showed me that some could be better lined up, didnt really notice it without the camera though.

BTW, just thought Id show you this great stuff that I have been using doing the chains, I found it in my wifes jewelery making box - stops any scratching on painted metal and really helps the grip too.
Im currently doing some tests as well to see if this can used to mask areas before painting as it is a thick liquid and also can be peeled off when dry!BigGrin

I use these both are very good I find the mr masking easer to use.

http://www.wonderlandmod...kol-masking-fluid-28ml/

or This

http://www.modelsrgo.co....er-1000-40ml-clone.html

Only thin I would say about the above is do a test first to see how it reacts and what residues it leaves behind, as it is not designed for the job

That's a new one to me! I've never seen a rubber compound for the jaws before. Years ago there was a red rubber stuff for dipping a tool's handles into to make them non slip, I wonder if that's still around? some of my plastic clamps could really do with some! BigGrin

Nice one Stevie
