Beautiful and nice looking Santisima Trinidad ship! What scaling method was used to build this structure? How much time period was required to build such type of ship?

Hi John,

As you are probably aware, plans of the 4-deck version of Trinidad no longer exist. However, plans do exist of the original 112-gun ship from 1765, from which the original dimensions of the ship can be found, where combined with contemporary sources, such as paintings and drawings of how the ship looked in its 4-decker guise, a model can be produced in 1/90 scale.

It looks like this retailer has the 3-decker plans for sale.. http://www.bestshipmodel...info&products_id=12

Trinidad construction as a 112-gun ship was started in 1765, and was launched in 1769. In 1795, her forecastle was joined to her quarterdeck to create a fourth deck.

Hi Mr T
I love this ship! I really like the painted look with red/black stripes and white hull - do you know if there will be a painted version guide as is with the vic build so you know what colour to paint parts as they are assembled?
I have also seen photos of model of the ST with copper, dont think this was the case theough?

The promotional images show a natural wood guise and the pre-Trafalgar colour scheme, which is very similar to the yellow/black bands of Victory.
However, the Trinidad red/black band version of Trafalgar should be easy enough to replicate on the model using contemporary paintings as a guide such as the one below.

I believe Trinidad had a copper tiled hull at the time of Trafalgar, though copper is not part of the kit content.

seems very tempting indeed, never seen this ship before so would be an interesting build, but for something of that price i think i'd rather get a caldercraft victory or hms vanguard, i'll be watching the builds for sure though BigGrin

Really thinking of starting this one to build later after the victory. Just read that the gunports are pre cut and the ports are metal, so no framing either i imagine - doubled planked as well, sounds better all the timeBigGrin

Hi Mr T.

The plans that I received, show the ST with the 1805 armament and it has 4 decks.

Mr T.

I got them at this site: http://shipmodeling.uw.hu/santisima/index.htm

It is in Russian, but Google can translate the page. The plans are in the boxes above the Russian description. There are a total of 11 plans ranging from rigging to construction of the canons.

Cheers

Andre
