How I dyed my last deck planking. Items used brush no 6 size flat water colour brush Permanent marker pen chisel ended 1.5mm Colron wood dye Georgian medium oak. Top of shaving foam lid to pour dye into. Draw lines down on side of plank using permanent marker pen. I also added a black mark on the side of the plank so you can identify the caulked side easily. To make a dark colour plank ( top plank in picture) Dip brush in dye. load brush with a lot of dye. Brush down plank applying even pressure on brush all way down plank. To make light colour plank (plank 2 in picture) Dip brush in dye remove excess dye from brush so just bristles are wet run brush down plank with very little pressure on brush. Dark plank lighter end.(plank 3 in picture) Dip brush in dye apply pressure to brush at start of plank ease of pressure as you get to end of plank. Plank with varied tones ( plank 4 in picture) Dip brush in dye vary pressure on brush as you go down plank. Picture of dyed planks Picture of planks together Hope this answers your question Alan Ian. Hi all. A quick update on my build. I have fitted the gratings to the deck. And lined the bullwarks. The cannon balls round the grattings have not been put into the channels as per instructions I have glued the cannon balls onto the 2mm strip as I thought this was more realistic. Thanks for looking Ian. Current builds.Hachettes build the bismark,HMS Victory, HMS Hood. Finished Builds Corel HMS Victory cross section.
