Tis.....I take it anyone can stay at this Royal Maritime Club and we don't have to be accompanied by a member??

Jase.... Where are you booking? Are you going with the Premier Inn or trying to book this Maritime Club??

And I just double checked my holiday dates I'd booked at work and realised that I'm not off the weekend we're going Blushing Crying So first thing Monday morning my boss is going to be the most wonderful-est, bestest boss in whole wide world....... but only if he lets me extend my holiday by another 3 days LOL If he don't then I'll stamp me feet and spit me dummy out and sulk forever LOL LOL Fingers crossed then............for the extra days that is not the tantrum Blushing BigGrin

Might be a good idea to contact the admiralty office and state why you are visiting, sometimes they do special tours for model makers, which the normal tour doesn't cover?

Jamie, yes anyone can book in, it was at one time the 'Royal Sailors Home Club' and then anyone associated with the Navy or ex-services could stay there, but it has obviusly changed hands and is to all extents and purposes, an hotel.
Do hope your Boss is the generous type, promise him a stick of rock or something...lol.
I agree with Jase, we can exchange mobile numbers nearer the time. I've lost count of how many are coming down?
Have booked my coach, lot cheaper than the train, don't do motor way driving any more, I get too tired. Jase, I have chosen this place purely because I have stayed there before and it is a nice place. 'The Ships Anselm' pub, which is on The Hard, opposite Portsmouth Harbour Station used to do a good meal and it is equidistant between the two places. HMS. Warrior is on The HARD, as is the dockyard.

Well Crying spoke to boss this morning and I can't extend my holiday as there is to many people off on the extra days I wanted Blushing Crying

I'm still keeping my hopes up though Huh as it may still be possible Sneaky just got to remind him a bit closer to the date and he will see what he can do. So unfortunately I cannot say for definate if I'll be there or not until probably the day before Mad

Oh well fingers crossed, and watch this space.

That's bad luck Jamie. Hope he has a change of heart and allows you to have the time off. I suppose it's too risky to throw a sicky?

Tis....I thought about pulling a sicky Blushing but it's a bit naughty and I'd feel guilty.

Jase.... The nature of the work I do means I'm on call 24/7 365 days a year. So I'm afraid it's not as easy as clocking off friday and driving down or even leaving early saturday morning....although.....as I've booked the monday off it's company policy that they try and get us home on the friday but cannot guarantee it. Weekends don't count as our days off so to get a wekend off I only have to book the friday and monday to get a long weekend off. So......with that in mind once it gets to wednesday/thursday, of the week before, if I'm home that week??, it would be highly unlikely that my boss would send me away incase I missed the start of my holiday on monday. Confused It's hard to explain but all is not lost. Even if I am away that week come wednesday I just got to keep reminding that my holiday is starting soon and he will dohis best to get me changed out.

I'll leave it a few days and ask him again, you never know someone might change/cancel their holiday

Hi all,

Haven't been on here for a while.

I'm up for a visit to Victory on the 21st August, as long as there are no surprises from work...

Will probably drive down from Didcot (Near Oxford).

Regards,

Mike.

Sorry to hear of the problem with your knees Bob and hope that you don't have to wait too long for your op. I'm sure there will be more trips in the future. Good luck.
