The word is out that Revell will be releasing a 1/48 Type VIIc U-boat in 2014. A heads up for those that might be considering the Hachette Germany offering. It will definitely allow you to save a few hundred quid, even after all the inevitable aftermarket.

Freetime Hobbies mentioned it in their latest newsletter.

Now, who is going to be first with a 1/35 Type VII?

I had the 1/72 one they did and that was big enough! Got destroyed in a move but I do have some pictures of it during construction. I'll post some up here once I've found them..

Aw what a shame Spence, that was a lovely model on the way. Was she a total loss? I saw a couple of models in the Plymouth Model Exhibition a couple of years ago, one of the Bismark and one of the Titanic, not as they were in their prime but as they are now on the sea bed - brilliantly well done and all! Cool

Total loss Robin at the time as she was snapped in half. Threw her away but if I knew what I know now ( over 10 years ago ) I would have done a seabed dio with her as a wreck.. Thanks for the comments though BigGrin
Might have to look into another but they are not cheap!

Nice! I had one that I had used the Special Hobby conversion on, converted it to a mine layer. It suffered the same fate.

As far as the 1/48 Revell goes, I am going to make a call tomorrow morning, and try and get some better info.

OK Guys,

I was completely wrong about the manufacturer. It was a misreading of the email I received. I talked to Freetime hobbies this morning, and here is the real deal.

It will be produced by Ark Models. It will be either RC, or static. Here are a couple of links;

http://www.arkmodel.com/...=21&products_id=421

and

http://www.arkmodel.com/Dynamic-c7602x/index.html

and for more photos;

http://www.rcgroups.com/...howthread.php?t=1800134

The riveting looks a little heavy, but as this is a test shot...

Anyway, apologies for the initial error in reporting the manufacturer!
