Stage 50 - Contains the right air tank, pipes and fittings.

The assembly and placement of the right air tank is a repeat of the left air tank fitted at Stage 48, therefore I wont repeat the assembly process here.

We are now at the half way point!

Stage 51 - Contains the cab structure, cab frames, outer window frames a sta and screws.

Identify the front, back, left and right sides of the cab.

Place the top left cab frame into position on the left side of the cab. Temporarily hold the part in position
with masking tape. Apply superglue to the joints from the inside of the cab.

Repeat this process to fix the top right cab frame in place. When the glue has fully set, remove the tape.

Be careful when handling the cab as the joins are likely to be weak until further items have been added later on.

Now take the window frames. Temporarily hold the left outer window frame in place with tape, then Apply glue to the seam between the frame and the side of the cab.

Repeat to fit the window frame of the right side of the cab. When the glue has fully set, remove the tape.

Take the stay and two 2x3mm screws. Align the holes on the short side of the stay with those at the front of the cab on the inside, then secure the stay with the screws from the outside.

Carefully store the cab for future assembly.

Stage 52 - Contains the cab floor (upper), firebox, grate, LED board, floor edging, A B & C stays, screws and a nut.

Apply glue to the inside base of the firebox, then fit the grate in the correct orientation.

Place the LED board over the hole at the top of the firebox, aligning the holes of both, then tighten a 2x5mm screw into each hole.

Place the first A stay on the left side of the cab floor, aligning the holes of both, with the larger space at the front. Turn the floor over and screw the stay in place with two 2x3mm screws.

Repeat for the second A stay on the right side of the floor.

Turn the cab floor over and place stay C at the front of the left side, aligning the highlighted holes.

Note that the B stays are handed, you can test-fit them to the top side of the deck to check which is which - when screwed to the deck, the end of each stay should be flush with the deck edge and not be inset.

Place the left stay B on top of the floor, aligning the holes highlighted, then tighten a 2x3mm screw into each hole, thus securing the C and Bh stay on opposite sides of the deck.

Turn the cab floor over so the underside is facing upwards. Place the floor edging on the left side, as shown in the instructions, and align the inner edge with the edge of the floor. Holding the edging in place, apply superglue to the join between it and the floor.

Glue the second edging onto the right side of the cab floor, in the same way as the left.

Carefully store the remaining stay, screws and nut.

Pack 14 contains Stages 53-56

Stage 53 - Contains the lower cab floor, stays D, E & F, floor edge and screws.

Position a stay D over the hole on the left of the lower floor, then tighten a 2 x 3mm screw into the aligned holes from below. Repeat for the second stay D on the right side of the floor.

Hold stays E and F together and use the photograph above to help you identify which is which. Place stay E underneath the floor, aligning the circled holes, then tighten a 2 x 3mm screw into the two circled holes
to secure stay E to the floor. Repeat this process to fix stay F to the floor.

Align the holes of stays E and F with those highlighted on the main floor. Tighten a 2x3mm screw into each of the four holes. Then tighten a screw into the two D stays in the main floor to secure the ends of the lower floor to the main.

Place the edging on the underside of the lower floor. Align the two shortest sides of the edging up against the edge of the lower floor and hold in place. Apply CA adhesive along the join between the floor and the edging.

Stage 54 - Contains the window frames & sliding window frames, eaves, vent plates, cab light unit and screws.

Slide an inner window into one of the window frames. Use a clamp to hold the frame in place against the cab wall. Make sure that the frame is aligned with the cab frame, as shown in the instructions. Place the window frame inside the left of the cabin, with the inner window at the rear. Turn the cab over and apply adhesive to the bottom of the frame.

Place one of the eaves in the highlighted area shown above. Do not force it into place as it may detach the window frame. Make sure the corners of the eaves are in contact with the wall of the cab, then apply glue to the join between the eaves and the window frame. Keep the inner sliding window separate so that it does not become glued. Fit the second eave on the oposite side of the cab.

Apply adhesive to one of the vents panels, then pace the vent on the left side of the cab, 3mm above the bottom edge and 7mm back from the front edge. Repeat to fit the vent panel onto the the right side of the cab.

Align the hole at the back of the cab light unit with the one on the left rear wall of the cab, tighten a 2x3mm screw into the hole.

Finally, use epoxy to reinforce the joins on the inside of the cab between the top left and right cab parts and the cab, as shown in the instructions.

Stage 55 - Contains a front cab door & window frame, control valve rods (A&B), control valve crank & lever, eaves and screws.

Apply some adhesive to one side of the cab door, then place the door onto the cab door cut out in the the front of the cab, aligning the window holes of both. Then glue the window frame onto the front of the cab, aligning the window holes of both.

Locate the projections on the eaves to identify which is which. Insert the two projections of the left eave into the two slot holes in the front of the cab, above the window, then apply adhesive to the projections from inside the cab to secure the eave. Repeat the process to fit the right eave.

Screw the control valve pull rod lever onto the left side of the boiler.

Glue control valve rod B (short rod) into the smaller hole of the control valve crank. Insert the end of the control rod intothe lower hole in the control valve pull rod lever. Place the larger hole of the crank onto the projection at the side of the sand dome. Adjust the position of the crank so there is a small gap, then apply adhesive to the gap to secure it.

Insert the free end of rod A into the control valve pull rod lever. Don’t glue either end of the rod in place as it will need to be removed before the cab is fitted. Insert control valve rod A into the hole in the back of the regulator lever.

Stage 56 - Contains the cab seats, two way valve, water injector pipe, cab armrest's, brake valve and screws.

Place the main assembly upside down and engage the cab floor (completed in Stage 53) as shown in the instructions. Then screw the floor onto the underside of the backhead with the 2x3mm screws from Stage 52.

Remove the previously fitted stay B (Stage 52) from the top of the floor along with Stay C, and also retrieve the remaining Stay B provide with Stage 52, be careful not to mix the left and right B stays, (keep Stay C safely aside).

Glue the two stays to the inside of the front of the cab, so that they are aligned 1mm inward of the inside edges.

Apply epoxy adhesive along the top of the side of the two A stays at the side of the floor, and before the adhesive sets, place the cab on the cab floor. The A stays should be on the inside of the cab walls and the holes in the B stays should be aligned with the holes in the floor.
Now tighten the 2x3mm screws from Stage 52 into the holes in the two B stays. Then press the walls of the cab up against the A stays to fix them in place, (ensure the cab sides are held against the side stay until the glue has set and be mindful not to be excesive with the epoxy).

When the glue has set and fixed the A stays to the cab sides, undo the screws fixing them and the B stays to the floor (leaving the A and B stay in situ on the cab walls).

Keep the removed screws and Stay C safely until required.

Position the brake valve over the indicated hole and fix it in place with a 2x4mm screw.

Place the two-way valve underneath the floor, aligning the holes. Secure it with a 2x4mm screw.

Ater checking the orientation, align the holes of one of the seats with those indicated in the floor, tighten two 2x3mm screws into the two holes from below. Then fix the second seat onto the floor on the right side of the deck.

Place one of the cab armrest's up against the bottom of the inner window frame. Position the armrest so that it appears just above the window ledge.
Apply adhesive to the edge of the armrest base in contact with the cab wall to secure it. Then repeat to fit the second arm rest on to the opposite cab side. The armrest's are designed to be moveable and can be folded down into the cab.

Carefully store the reamining water injection pipe until required.
