OK, it may not appeal to everyone, but in an appropriate material, this would look great on a mantle piece or similar, and would make a great talking point! Completed: Earth, Moon, Sun Orbiter

Would be great. An extraordinary showpiece. I would particularly like it. Sad as it sounds, I had never heard of Harrison until the 1996 Only Fools and Horses  Luckily, I live 10 minutes away from the royal observatory, so was able to see them in person straight away. However, I think the cost would be immense. Also, I'm sure many on here are fine modellers, but the H1 just looks so damn complex, that combined with cost, I just don't know if it would be a good mainstream modelling subject.

Harrisons clocks are indeed works of art,& I would love to build H1 but doubt the concept would be cost effective. Harrison was a man ahead of his time and it is thanks to his vision and the first accurate chronometer that ships of his time where able to plot their position at sea Would be an interesting build Current Build:-

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but what about a Congreve clock, much simpler and possibly much cheaper. Hopelessly inaccurate, but fascinating to watch.

hi wildrover,I very much doubt you would get the h1 on your mantle shelf, It took 6 men to carry it aboard for testing.now the h3 was a different kettle of fish, more mobile but still large.
