Issue 72 now complete, or should I say as complete as I want to make it just now.... Have not fitted the gun port lids on the stern as yet as I am still undecided on whether to have them open or closed.... keeping my options open just now....Cool Cool

Started by cutting the brass etch shields out and tidying up the edges with a very fine metal file. Applied the decals using Micro Set and when dry coated them with a clear gloss varnish for protection...Cool Cool .. Moved onto cleaning up the lions head again using a very fine file, gave the pieces a coat of metal primer followed by 3 coats of the metallic gold, glued the pieces together using 2 part epoxy and fitted to the rudder..... Finally, when set gave it a coat of clear gloss varnish....Cool Cool

Made up the two stairways as outlined in the instructions and fitted to the deck.. little fiddly but all in all no problems encountered....Cool Cool .. Finally a couple of pics on how she looks now.....Cool Cool

Happy building all...

Regards

Alan

Issue 73 completed with the exception of a cannon.... Not a lot to do this week, just adding additional vertical bars to one side of the lower stern gallery..... Here are the pics anyway....Cool Cool

Nicely done indeed Alan, that stern is beginning to look amazing now! Cool And well done on those stairs too, have to admit that stairs are not my favourite bits to model! (I've had too many get to the last tread and suddenly collapse like a flat pack! Mind you, that was in the days before super glue came to the rescue!) Blink

Lovely photos!

Thanks for looking in and the nice comments Robin, appreciated....Cool Cool .. I actually enjoyed building the stairs and simply used alphatic PVA.... glued one rung at a time letting it set before fitting the next one.... Will admit though, found it rather tricky to get them to sit perfectly level, tended to want to lean to one side but with perseverance got there in the end.....Blink Blink .. Thanks again...

Alan

Progress so far, issue 74 now complete which was the adding of more ornamentation to the side and rear galleries. Shaping tool did its job but can't say it is one of my favourite tools to use... still as I said, it did the job with a little patience....Cool Cool

Beautiful work Alan, I was looking at the build pics of this on the main DeAg site today, unbelievable how many decorations you have to cram into that stern, looks amazing though.
