Great to see you started the Black Pearl, Steve. I like to watch a fresh build develop into majestic ship. Keep your mug filled and have fun. Marcel "Rather try and fail than had failed to try".Sovereign of the Seas Model Space forum: Marcel's build

I live at Clarence marina. I made the mistake of going into town AT&T he weekend and saw the second issue and had to buy it although I have also subscribed. But I sold it to myself that in the second issue you get the figurehead which is incredibly delicate and I now have a spare

Hi Christopher I'm not too sure at the moment it's just an idea that I have been thinking about. I may just score the MDF and drill out the peg hole's, and then fill them with a toothpick cut to size.or I may try out a very thin veneer cut to each length. I was just curious on how the shipwrights made the old ships, My granddad was a shipwright in Portsmouth dockyard during the war, but sadly he passed away when I was young so I never got a chance to learn from him. hi steve, if you have a look at tomicks official build of the x-section of victory it may help you in the way the ribs are assembled. k. also there are many books on period ship that also show this skill. just google period ship books. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Hi Karl I will do thank you for telling me about Tomicks build, I have been using a historical picture from the internet on how tall ships were constructed. I know it's of a Tea Clipper, but I think they were built the same way. I hope I am allowed to use this link http://www.all-model.com/clip2/clip-15.html

Hi Steve If you "brush" the mdf with a wire brush like the ones used for spark plug cleaning it will look more like wood, brush down the edges of the frames in one direction and it will leave grooves in the mdf and round off the sharp edges slightly. Steve
