I don't know how many of the forum members have noticed but on Sunday night the BBC are showing a documentary on how to build a nuclear submarine. How to build ... a nuclear submarineCan Admin confirm whether or not Deagostini will be providing a full scale kit to accompany the programme and whether it will be a parts build and if so how many issues?? It should be quite a good programme - I worked on the Astute at Barrow-in-furness for a couple of years or so, i'll be watching :-) There's another one next Sunday about Rolls-Royce building big jet engines, which is where i'm workingnow... I'm looking forward to it.
I visited Barrow a couple of years ago to provide some specialist computer training to the Site Maintenance team. There was a newly built submarine moored at the quay (It might well have been Astute) but unfortunately I wasn't invited to have a look over it. No clearance for the nuclear security area.

I watched this superb programme it showed one of the Asute classes. I was quite surprised to see the insides of the sub filmed so much. Thought there would be a lot more blurring of the image. Yes there was some but I thought there would be more.
Best bit was the turning on of the Nuclear reactor. A man stepped onto the hull and put his thumbs up!
Roll on next episode - How to build a jet engine.
