Hi All
I have always had a soft spot for canards and flying wings going back to my R/C days so when I saw this vintage resin/metal kit on flee bay I thought it would make a nice filler build.
Firstly some history, The design was firstly brought to light by Lieutenant Commander Masayoshi Tsuruno of the IJN .The two prototypes were powered with a radial engine but it was expected that a gas turbine could be retro fitted to the design. The IJN was so impressed with the design they ordered imidiate production of the aircraft as short range bomber destroyers armed with four 30 mm cannons. The prototypes flew for a total of 45 minutes before hostillitys ended one being destroyed and the other claimed by the USA where it is still stored to this day.
The kit comes in a sturdy cardboard box containing two bags ,the 1 st having the resin parts and the 2 nd the metal parts and a single basic instruction guide that has a parts list ,assembly instructions and a black and white views of the finished aircraft.
Although there has been some discolouration over time the resin parts are still good but there are a few pinholes to sort but no major warping to deal with. The metal parts are crisply cast but will need a fair amount of cleaning up.
In conclusion a nice little kit, not a beginers kit by far but one I will enjoy building.
Regards
Andy
