ian smith wrote:Hi Derek. Very nice clean build. Look forward to seeing more. Ian Hi Ian, Thanks for taking a look and the kind comments. I`m spraying up the strip wood for lining the gun ports at the moment, then progress will slow for a bit while I actually line the ports. Before that though, a very light rub down on the white hull and a final coat to apply. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, This is just a one picture update, as a gun port is a gun port etc. I have lined some ports and "Yes" a bit of paint touch-up may be required but will do that as a one off job when they are all done. Next update may be a while as it will be when all gun ports are lined. Happy Building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Having literally straightened out my Spitfire build, I`ve come back to the Sots. This is a small update, but a lot of work has been done. (most of it repetitive) ie: gun port lining As for the gunwales, I asked for some advise on the best way to hold them in place while the adhesive set. I would like to thank those who offered their ideas to this issue and especially Alan (Gandale), whose method I finally used. The method used is the drill and map pin method, which gave an unexpected bonus of tree nailing if you look close, even though the gunwales have been painted black after filling the holes made. Below are the results so far What next ? Finish the lower gunwale Line seven more gun ports Then, I can turn it over and do the other side. Happy building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

As for the colour scheme I`m using the official Sots set and I must say I`m very impressed with results for consistency. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Some of the repetitive sessions do get to me at times, but that`s why I change tack to another build every so often. I also think it helps to put you back on track and pays dividends in the end results when you return to the previous build. Thanks for looking in and happy building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

It did came out great. The paint job and veneer does not seems to be damaged. I'll check in again to watch how you had progressed. "Rather try and fail than had failed to try".Sovereign of the Seas Model Space forum: Marcel's build

Hi Marcel, Thanks for looking in, there are a few very small bits that will need touching in with a spot of paint(mainly inside the gun port linings) but nothing major thankfully. Happy Building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

That said, still not in a rush even though I`m really looking forward to getting into some main building sections for a bit of a change, cos you see a big difference in a short period of time. Hey Ho just have to wait a while longer Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
