BigGrin Hi All
I recently did a kit revue of this model that I got off e-bay, Here is where the build diary will be.
Firstly the casting sprue's and flash were removed then the parts cleaned up and any air bubbles in the resin castings filled using liquid putty. Lead was added to the nose area in the holes left in the casting and the two sides of the fuselage joined together and shaped to match then the wings and engine casting were joined together with the forward fuselage sections.
At the moment I am slowly building up putty in the joint lines until they are filled then starts the shaping process to make all the parts one.

BigGrin Hi All
After lots of filing, filling and sanding the 1st light coat of grey undercoat goes on this is more to highlight any blemishes or places missed . Now its a case of rectifying those places so a nice even and smooth finish is obtained.

BigGrin Hi Steve
Thanks for looking in and your comments.
The liquid putty is great it will fill gaps/holes but sometimes needs a couple of applications to build it up, using a brush is possable but it will ruin it I have found runing it in with a cocktail stick works fine.
It must be left for at least 24 hours to fully cure but then it sands quite freely like squadron. Here's a link to where I got it from the Mr Hobby Resin Primer is top notch too.

I guess the putty is ideal for the fine joints etc and is thinner than the Squadron putty? looks an interesting product.

Build looking great AndyCool

BigGrin Hi Jase
It flows into joints as its a liquid and fills up tiny cracks like you say the only bad thing I can say about squadron is that it sometimes fails on the smaller joints and wont fill them properly. Thanks for looking in and your comments

Yes I agree Squadron is great for bigger filling jobs, so this putty looks like a good additional filler.

BigGrin Hi all
Just a small update the model has been fully undercoated now and cleaned up where needed.
The first coat of Grey-Green has been sprayed onto the under surfaces. once this has had time to fully cure its masking and spraying the top surfaces.
You may have noticed that no decals were included with the kit so I have bought some 1/72 decals off the webb just the meat balls any yellow will need to be sprayed/painted

Looking good AndyBigGrin

can I ask which method you used for masking the wavy lines, was it cut masking tape or did you use the blu-tack method?

Coming along nicely, love the shape of the Shinden, was very tempted with the Zoukei Mura in 1/32.

BigGrin Hi Rob
Thanks for looking in and your comments, I have been using the Maru version as an aid to painting as all you got with the kit was a small page of instructions. I have my eye on the Horten bomber

also if you scroll down to the bottom they are developing the Dornier Arrow heavy fighter

BigGrin Hi All
My decal's were waiting for me when I got home last nightLOL . They are from a Polish company and are very fine with a minimum of film edging and there are at least 40 different sized decals on the sheet that are all numbered.
In the package there is also a sheet of paper with the Japanese aircraft codes and the sizes to be used on your model a neat and tidy way of doing it too.
Now to add them to the Shinden

The decals have now been attached and a final coat of matt varnish to seal everything in.
So here she is not too bad for a 1st effort in resin kits and an old one at that
