Hello everyone

I wanted to introduce myself as a new member to this forum which I recently found and have ordered the partwork HMS Victory from DeAgostini yesterday.

Since a kid, I went through the plastic model kit building phase which turned into a life long interest in Warhammer 40k and have an extremely large space marine army that I have been collecting, building and painting for 25 years.

I have recently got into some terrain building and am creating an Old West town making laser cut wooden buildings and painting the miniatures to go in my town.

I have lost of experience in working with plastic and metal kits, laser cut wood buildings and large scale resin models from Forge World.

I have always wanted to build a proper wooden ship from scratch doing all the planking/skinning of the ribbing of the sip (forgive me if they are incorrect terms).

The HMS Victory looks like a great kit and what with my wife being a distant relative to Lord Nelson himself, was the kits i had to go for.

I love the slow steady start with a few issues at a time and spreading the cost of the many months it will take to complete.

I will be looking to this forum for lots of advice though I have been through a lot of it and found some great tips already and the official build guide is going to be invaluable.

I will post my progress on here as I progress.

Many thanks

Mike

Hi
Some builders pack the gaps between the frames at the bow and stern with balsa blocks which are then sanded down at the same time as you sand the frames down.
The purpose of this is so that there is more "surface" for the planks to glue to at the areas where the ship is more curved.
I personally just infilled the bow but it's your choice
