Hello all, Not a great deal achieved over the last week, most of my hobby time was spent on my BV141, which I am now close to finishing. The stairs to the second deck have been made, the rails and risers are 1.5mm ply and the treads are 1 x 6mm strip. The plywood was stained dark oak and then varnished, the treads were stained natural oak and a coat of humbrol satin cote. The last cabin door on the first deck is made and fitted, and the shutters are under construction. The current plan is to finish the shutters, and then make a start on valve gear for the engines. Hopefully more next week, Regards, Tony. Tony C attached the following image(s):

Hi Christopher, Thanks for looking in, I don't have any plans to make interiors for this model. There are two more decks to go on, if you look through earlier posts, you will find a photo with all the decks in place.
Regards, Tony.

Hello all, The first deck cabin door shutters have been completed, the fore mast has been secured in place and a floodlight and mounting fitted. The second deck stairs have been secured in place, the safety rails have been made and fitted. Stanchions and railings fitted to the port side of the paddle wheel. I have all the bits I need, so the valve gear simulation should be done this week. Hopefully more next week. Regards, Tony. Tony C attached the following image(s):

Hello all, A simulation of the valve gear has been made and fitted. The next jobs are the deck side balusters and the doors and shutters on the second deck. I made a test piece to see what a baluster would look like, to copy the drawing would be very difficult, so I substituted 5mm holes. This will work provided I can keep all the holes in line. There are over 100 to make in total, so add 14 doors and 28 shutters, and I have some major tedium ahead. I am awaiting the arrival of the correct wood for the balusters. I will let you know how I am getting on next week. Regards, Tony. Tony C attached the following image(s):

Hello all, The balusters have been made and fitted to the port side of the 1st deck, the port side of the 2nd deck will be next. I have included a photo showing construction. The packing case and boiler uptake bends were made while waiting for paint/glue to dry. I am waiting for ladder sides to arrive, there are port and stbd crew ladders to make from 1st to 2nd deck, and 2nd to 3rd deck, there is also the ladder to make to the wheelhouse. More next week all being well. Regards, Tony. Tony C attached the following image(s):

Hello all, Further to yesterdays post, because most of the remaining work is of a repetitive nature, I propose to only post every two weeks or so. If anything of a special nature comes up I will post it. I would like to say thank you to all the forum members who have posted comments, and also to all those who have just looked in.
Kind regards,
Tony.

Hello all, Balusters have been made and fitted to the port side of the second deck, they will be completed when the third deck is secured in place. The port side gangway derrick secured in place. A start has been made on the cabin doors and shutters for the second deck, and also the steps to the cabin doors. Crew ladders from first to second deck have been made, only the port side one is fitted at the moment. The pilot house ladder made and fitted. Two rudders made and fitted. A start has been made on the funnels ( I got some plastic plumbing pipe offcuts for £2.00), I have cut out the exhaust funnels. The satin black on the funnels is a bit shiny, so I will dull it down with satin cote. More soon, Regards, Tony. Tony C attached the following image(s):

Hello all, A brief update, the port side of the second deck is complete, the main funnels have been made and fitted. I did not like the decoration shown in the drawing, so I made some brass rings. I buffed them with a felt wheel in my motor tool and added a dab of brass paint to hide the solder joint. Regards, Tony. Tony C attached the following image(s):

Hello all, The stbd side doors and shutters have been made and fitted, along with the steps. The stbd side crew ladder from the 1st to 2nd deck has been installed. Two kit built boats fitted to the third deck. The exhaust funnels fitted to the third deck, and the main funnels secured to the second deck. The two masts halfway along the second deck are for anti hogging stays, which will be fitted after the third deck is secured in place. A start has been made on making the balusters for the entire stbd side. I am beginning to think that maybe the end is slowly coming into view. More soon, Regards, Tony.
