Is it Me, Or are we getting a bit to far ahead of ourselves!! OK, Just going to have a rant! I think that we should be more concerned about planking the hull insted of winging and wondering about how to copper it!!!!! YOU HAVE TO PLANK IT FIRSTand then when you have spent XX number of hours geting the planking right you are going to cover it in copper. STAGE ONE -- PLANK IT STAGE TWO -- DOES IT LOOK RIGHT STAGE THREE --- YES (Leave it!) STAGE THREE A! --- COVER IT IN COPPER !!! STAGE 4,5 ,6 ,7 ,8 --- Cocked it up start again!!!!!! SO lets forget about the copper at the moment and concentrate on what we have to do next, not on what we have to do in 6 months!!!!Enough Said!!!! Morning Russ..it's you mate.... No, of course not but thinking ahead is not a bad thing, I mean it does concern the hull and any info on this subject will give folk options, we dont know for sure if its single or double planked yet so the possibility of even a seasoned modeller could make mistakes that will lead to coppering the hull. And given the nature of part-works it well worth having some advanced knowledge on what needs to be done. right, so can we start talking about rigging now..

Russ I seem to remember that there were a number of early posts discussing the design of the case to put the finished model in! I think Colin was one of those! If that isn't forward planning I don't know what is! I completely agree with Colin that there is nothing wrong with forward planning. I am quietly getting on with some experiments on the coppering which I will share once I'm satisfied with my own efforts. Because of the nature of a parts build we have to wait for each stage, I'm not risking the frames until I can see enough parts to know how they go together .. following Tomick's advice as always. So there is time to look into all the various options. I must say that these so-called 'rants' do try my patience when folks get together to have a productive discussion which they find interesting. Again if you're not interested shut up and let others get on with doing it their way. Mike T Sorry for the rant

A Very Good Morning Colin & Mike Great at last, we having a proper rant !! Im already on to building a mini case, to keep the dust of during the build!!!! and as usual I am a few weeks behind everybody else so I do enjoy reading about the pitfalls and how to get round them! As before I intend to copper the bottom but will wait and see what DeA has to offer before commiting myself, and I think the pin wheel is the way to go!! Your Turn !!! While I agree we should be concentrating on what's next rather than whats after that, I do agree that looking ahead is necessary for preparation, ie sending for supplies etc The only concern I'm having is with the forum itself, there appears to be some trolling and bullying going on! this in turn leaves some of our new members and friends to ship building feeling uneasy, or unwilling to post ideas, suggestions or their completed work, in fear of being attacked by the more seasoned modelers. We have some fantastic talented modelers here with us, who are willing to help any member achieve their potential and create a model they are happy with, but there is also an element here where one or two see fit to criticize the less seasoned the first chance they get!!! this is neither constructional or necessary, we should help rather than criticize. Rant over, have a great weekend all! Ship Builds on the go

Hi Shipmates! I've just started to build the hull yesterday changed the order of assembly, glued all the internal keel parts together first before the bow section, much better doing it that way. I was able to clamp the whole keel straight with the help of the multi jig, two long metal bars and clamps. Planning ahead is a good idea, that's why I'm thinking about the problems of planking, the clamps I'm making for the jig to hold the hull at different angles while I plank for example. Even thinking about rigging and ways my multi jig can make my life easy when I get to that stage. The small base is almost finished I have a way of holding the planks safely while I us a small plane to shape the planks. I agree with Lonestar about the way some people can put other's off posting ideas, it not good to be bullied. Let's get the forum used in the way it should be!, not for a slagging match.
