BTW Del, what size are the etch frames? Just to get an idea of the size of etch you are working with.
Looks good though cant wait to see it.
Steve

Hi Steve,Crying

The railing etch frame is 17 x 5 cms (includes: vertical ladders)
The crane, smoke stack grill etc is 14.5 x 5 cms

The size don`t mean much to me at the moment, but I`m sure it will soon.

BigGrin Hi Derek
Nice to see your getting started, just take your time with the etch and just ask if you need any tips. By the way most people would have just taken a picture of the etch with a penny showing to give a comparison .
best of luck with the build

Hi All,

Firstly, thanks to all above for the encouragement and offers of assistance (not if)but I think "when" required.

Now for the Blushing Blushing I`m stupid bit Blushing Blushing

didn`t think to do the penny shot with the etch so here it is in pic 1.

Oh how I wish I hadn`t done that, it looks scary now LOL LOL

Anyway the seal on the glue is officially broken and the "BISMARK" is under way at last.

This kit is 1:400 scale and the hull halves were a bit of a pain to get to lay straight to each other.

Pic 2:
Hull halves are together

Pic 3:
Shows the joint bracing plates and the hull side reinforcements

Well that`s the start

Just one more pic to show the size of this beast.
For those with wonky eyesight like myself, it`s just over two feet in length. See pic 4

So, that`s all for today.

Happy Building BigGrin BigGrin

Thou rely recommend this glue for small etch, sold out but should be able to find some, gives you time to position pieces not like super glue and it dries clear, just checked plenty on e bay.
