Just started my SOS build,and on issue 3. I am about to construct the first anchor and I note there is no mention in the instructions on painting or staining the stock,wondering what you guys have done?

Hi steven.b Welcome to forum. Re your question. One of the more experienced guys did mention anchors in a post and his thoughts were because there is a total of four anchors eventually to leave colouring wooden section till you have all anchors to ensure all are the same hue. It is easy if colouring one at a time over a period to have some differences. Hope that helps. It's what I will do myself having regard for such experience. Regards George1 Building HMS SOTS

Hi steve I'm hoping to pick up issue 3 today from my newsagent so I will get the first anchor to make myself. It's my birthday today so my son is going to purchase a magnifyer with led light and clamp arms to hold tiny objects while working on them. I believe Jewellers use them to hold small items secure while they work on them. I could have done with it when building those first two cannons. They were pretty fiddly. While on cannons, I found cutting the top 3mm off the points of wooden kebab skewers - the cannon nozzles fits snugly on to these, stick the other end in blue tack and you can easily undercoat and paint the cannons without touching them at all until they have dried

I use them also to clean out super glue nozzle periodically. Only used super glue on cannons. PVA on other wood. Regards George1 Building HMS SOTS
