Hi Jase, BigGrin

Thanks for looking in and the penny shot reminder worked. LOL LOL

The coffee table will be a while, as still have to work out the overall dimensions of the dio, but include it I will. BigGrin

Looking forward to seeing more of this one Del, will this be being built alongside the Bismark build?
Steve

Hi Steve,BigGrin

Both of the builds will be ongoing.

I have made a start on the Bismark, but waiting for delivery of the etch bender to see where to go forward with that build.

Good news is, it should be here tomorrow Love

As for the lancaster dio, this is only in it`s infancy.

I still have some nissen huts to be delivered and until they arrive I can`t plan the full layout. Which will then have to be fitted into a coffee table.

So, I think the saying is "Watch this space" Laugh

Thanks for looking in

Hi Del,
The kit seems much more detailed than the Airfix Lanc, I built back in the 1950's. I may just get back to building the odd Airfix kit or two.

Regards,

Tony.

Hi Tony, BigGrin

Thanks for looking in, me thinks the technology has improved so much that the tooling of the parts and therefore their manufacture has been made so much easier.

I too remember the old kits, the wheels/tyres were always perfectly round,so no thought had been given to the loading of the tyres with weight above them, but hey they were still great fun to build as a kid.

Just one thing I would like to see now is spokes in the wheels of a 1:72 motor bike/ bicycle wheel.

So that said, if anyone knows how to add spokes "please tell", cos I`ve got a few to do.

Happy Building All BigGrin BigGrin

Hi All. BigGrin

Well this is where we are at the moment.

The Nissen huts have arrived.Pic 1

Whilst at the Lincolnshire Lancaster Museum yesterday I found a kit I`d not seen before.

The Emergency Set.Pic 2

So that`s all the kits!!

There`s been a bit more work today, but only easy stuff so I could have an easy day.

Worked on one of the nissen huts.

Results:

Test painted one end, still got door to fit.Pic 3

Then full item:(Still door to fit)Pic 4

I am looking at a finished dio/coffee table of approx 24"x36"

I`m now able on a piece of paper of that size to start planning the layout.

May be a couple of additional tweeks to come yet, but time will tell.

That`s all for now,

Work tomorrow, then three days off when I must return to the Sots for a while.

Happy building

Hi Jase, BigGrin

You are very right with the fun side of this build.

There are lots of small bits to this build which can be done in minutes, so it`s a great build to fit in when I`ve done a long day at work and just want a short bit of a build to do.

I`ll try and produce a ground plan in the next few days so people will be able to see where the builds going.

Thanks for looking in Cool

Happy Building

Hi Alan, BigGrin

Apologies for the delay in this reply, been tied up with other issues.

Since you looked in, I`ve obtained an RAF flag, Union Jack, a blast shelter and grey paving.

All I have to do now is put it all together Laugh

Many Thanks for looking in and the kind comments. Cool

Hi All, BigGrin

Small update, have put some paint detail on the control tower.Pics 1-2

Still lots of detail to add to this part of the dio, but I`m now awaiting acetate sheet and adhesive to use as the glazing for all the windows and doors.

Strange that no glazing was supplied for this kit as it has so much glass in it. Confused

Required items should be here in 2-3 working days.

I`ve also managed to source some old style outside bracket lamps in 1:72 scale, so will show some about those when they arrive.

That`s all for now.

Happy building

Hi Steve, BigGrin

Thanks for the kind comments, as for the acetate I`m not sure what/which one would react well with adhesive and at £1:50 a sheet ain`t gonna break the bank. Blink

Thanks for looking in and your comments/assistance is always welcome.Cool
