Start of Balsa Fill. Will leave rest in case adjustments required. Still some filling and sanding to do before sealing.

hi george, would recommend that you fit deck first before filling in anymore,as the slots in the deck are very precise in fitting over the frames.and is much easier to do after the deck is fitted. BigGrin

Hi George. Looking good! I can see matching our stages of construction will provide each other ideas and techniques we may not otherwise think about. I for one will be following your progress with interest.

Hi karl1113

Thanks for that advice. I didn't intend to go further at this stage but could have easily made the mistake without your input. Appreciate always your help.BigGrin

Hi Gandale. Thanks for comment.BigGrin

Hi bb1949

Appreciate your confidence, however I am a rank beginner and only by following karl1113's build I've got this far. I think it will be more me following you. BigGrin

Hi Ted

To be honest I'm not sure yet. Definitely I will do stern as well as I can see by shape it will be tricky regarding planking. Following karl1113's advice I won't fill in anymore till deck fitting. The only drawback to infilling is a lot of time involved as well as costs of balsa. I'm using balsa planks at the moment around 6-6.5-12-12.5 mm x 75 mm for the bow section. Any thicker and they become hard to cut to any shapes unless you got mini power saw or band saw. I make shapes a little oversize then glue and sand down. As the rib frames get larger 75 mm will not fit across to main frame so will slot perpendicular against mainframe first then across against that to outside edge. That's if I do fill other rib frames other than bow and stern.BigGrin

Go to Newsagent like usual Thursdays after midday to pick up issue 5 and nothing there. First four issues on time no problems. This time they don't know for sure when coming in and now making inquiries. I hope this is not a sign of things to come on newsagency deliveries from the Australian Representative Company. I chose not to purchase direct as with the GST inclusion I can't see where the "freebies" are when you add up 135 times the GST.
Certainly I'm not happy on waiting on the issue and expectations dashed when not there. Mad
I know I should have more patience but don't appreciate the travel for nought.Mad

Hi George,
When I picked up issue 4, I was given a letter from Gordon and Gotch Partworks stating that Part 5 had been delayed by shipping. Will go on sale 10/4/14 instead of 3/4/14.
This letter was sent to all newsagents I believe. Hope this clears up your frustration.
Regards
Ted

Thanks for that info Ted.

My Newsagent obviously never got that letter and there wasn't one with my issue 4. I'm still waiting on a phone call from them when they do get that news.
We can only wait now till the 10th. Bit of a bummer but nothing we can do. Just hope it doesn't happen too often.

The medals are awarded manually (technology!!!) so you may not see yours appear as soon as you achieve it, but they have now been awarded and congrat's on receiving your first medals Cool

Hi Ted.

That's normal for me. Last time it rained soup I was armed with a fork.Laugh

We've got one now so thanks for bringing it to notice.

However at this stage I don't know that I deserved one. BigGrin

Hi George I shared your feelings of withdrawal despite getting the note about the delay from the newsagent. Tomorrow is Thursday and that's delivery day so there's a chance I'll be normal. I am enjoying your notes and work and learning lots too. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Happy days!

Maybe with luck there will be issues 5 + 6 together as really issue 6 would be due on the 10th.

I'm keeping everything crossed but finding it difficult to walk like that.Laugh
