Hi Andy, Have you decided yet if you are going for a natural build or a painted one, I'm thinking of painting the Trafalgar colours but I understand there is some nice hardwood supplied with this kit which may look nice with a bit of varnish. Steve

Hi Steve You are right about the nice hardwoods for the hull and will be starting the secondary planking in the next issue. As for a finish im leaning more towards a natural finish with perhaps the use of drawing inks to stain where needed. All this of course will hinge on the finish I can get on the hull but we will see. If you go for the painted version then it will be a nice contrast between the two builds. I was thinking the same Andy, Think I'll paint then so we can have 2 finishes on here. I'm going for the red/white/black with copper hull, I think the masts are left natural anyway. Steve

Hi All This month its the start of the secondary planking but before that was applied I painted all the lower gun port holes matt black as doing it beforehand prevents it getting on the second set of planks. The transom was the 1st part to be done and then two layers of the hull planks were added , soak the planks where they curve around the transom to prevent splitting . Hi Trev Thanks for looking in and your comments. AS for the wood used so far I think the upper light planks are Lime wood and the lower planking will be of a mahogany. Hi All The upper hull planking has now been completed apart from a couple of fillets at the bow, next is to carry on with the hardwood lower hull then start adding more deck furniture.
