Hi Andy, Thanks for looking in. Now I don`t know about great pics, I`ve only got a little Kodak instamatic, but they do the job Eh!! Well here`s the second installment. The Mary Rose: I will only put limited narrative with these pics to aid understanding and improve the fact that flash photography is not allowed, which means there may be a few pics that are a bit dark and some with a bit of camera shake. So here we go. Recognition of the wreck. The Bell. Pic 1 The gun that proved it was the Mary Rose.Pic 2 The Ships RemainsDeck Levels The yellow printed markers read as follows: (bottom to top) Mast step, Orlop, Main, Upper and at the very top Castle deck.Pic 3 Rudder.Pic 4 Gun port.Pic 5 Life and death on the Mary RoseShoes.Pic 6 If you look in the top right of the last pic, you will see what looks like a white radio, this is a temperature and humidity detector plus alarm. These are installed in every exhibit in a show case. The Archer.Pics 7-8 The Purser.Pics 9-10 Now a big Ahhhhhh for: The Ships dog (and rat catcher)Pic 11 Well that`s it for this section. I could have spent over half my day at the Mary Rose, but this is a full on day (more on that later) Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Looks like you had a good day out Del. Really hoping that I may get a visit this year to Portsmouth as that Mary Rose museum looks top notch and I have a slight affinity to it having watched it's raising so many years ago as a youngster via the Blue Peter show. My visit would be on whatever Barnes Coaches can offer from Swindon as I do not drive. Can I just ask please did you get around all of these sites in a single day or are your pictures the result of a long weekend? Only asking as if it's a coach trip for me I will have to consider long lines of people and limited time so this will be the decider on what I go to see. Kind regards Tony Happy Modelling

Hi Alan, It`s a brilliant day out and an experience I loved. So, here`s the final installment. HMS Alliance and Holland 1 submarinesHMS Alliance. Pics 1-7 Holland 1 (launched Oct 1901)Pics 8-10 Now as there are plenty of excellent pics of the Victory, already available within this forum, I will only post a couple of pics of the ongoing restoration. HMS VictoryAll masts are under restoration and some hull planking has been removed and will be replaced with new ones.Pics 11-12 Well that`s it for the pics. It was a difficult choice to select the above pics from nearly 200, but these are I think the best of them. Some general info: There are numerous additional exhibits not shown in these pics. All attraction tickets are available and save you a fortune over the single tickets. Admission: All attraction tickets at this moment in time are £28 If you sign up for gift aid (nil cost) your ticket will be valid for return visits for one year. The only place you have to have a guided tour is HMS Alliance, the rest of the attractions you view at your leisure. HMS Alliance is not at the main site, but at Gosport - it is accessible from the main site via the harbour tour boat, or you can drive round if in a car (10-15 mins), parking here is free. This is a full on day and I would advise getting there a short while before it opens, to get the max amount of time. I hope you have found these pics and info useful and WHEN you decide to go I hope you have a great day like mine. Here`s to our Heritage Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
