Hello All,

This month I will be receiving issues 50-53, and with the exception of the bonus issues, I have made it to the half way point of my build BigGrin and thought I would take the opportunity to properly introduce myself and share a few of my thoughts/experiences.

Firstly , I rarely post, but have spent hours scrolling through threads and gaining valuable tips and advice from this forum. Normally I find that someone has already asked my question and I 'd like to thank all the helpful and experienced members who take the time to share their knowledge.

I live just outside of Adelaide with my wife and three (+1 cooking) children, I've returned to Uni to study and travel daily to the city to do so .. I'm probably already busy enough but the RB7 represents a little bit of me time.

This is my first ever part work and first RC, and I'd be lying if I said my early experiences didn't test my patience. I have done quite a lot of modelling in the past and receiving every little bit piece by piece, week by week was a little, actually really annoying. However, time and experience has changed everything and I wouldn't have it any other way. The cupboard full of incomplete plastic kits probably speaks enough of receiving everything up front and the perfectionist in me enjoys the slower structured pace.

With the time between deliveries I find myself looking around at ways of adding a personal touch to my build such as carbon fibre, upgraded paint work, even DRS.. My imagination has run wild and this has made this experience far more enjoyable than the ordinary shop bought kit, granted more expensive, but the experience, support from the forum and the excitement of the release of issues 101-115 has more than made up for that.

I have had my issues along the way with parts that don't fit, parts that sneak their way through final inspection and booklets that look like they travelled to me on foot. This can be frustrating but I have always received a no questions asked replacement, and once I take a deep breath and put it in perspective, the occasional extra wait for a replacement isn't the end of the world.

For the record I've had 4 replacement deliveries so far, here's a quick summary of my issues.
- Badly misaligned printing on issue 1, scratched wheel rim and a crushed issue 3. (Items replaced, Issue 1 sent twice until I was 100% happy)
- Screw holes in side skirts not aligned with base due to warping (received new skirts and baseplate to remedy)
- At least three damaged booklets (replaced)
- Upper rear bulkhead warped (only recently emailed to inform, waiting for reply)
- Wobbly front right wheel, inside of rim to large (according to forum this will be addressed later, so I haven't pushed for a fix yet, but did mention it in my last email)

I've been fortunate and haven't received the wrong part, unlike others with the recent bearing issue. I couldn't say a bad word about the more than generous manner in which customer service have treated me so far. I do feel bad for those who haven't had the same experience.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read... Onwards to the next 50,

Chris

Thank you Andy,

It appears I might have been bitten by the bug. I just signed up to the Hummer H1 today, so i guess you'll be seeing a bit more from me on the forum.
