Hi Ted.

I had similar problem losing one of them never to be seen again. Laugh

You can purchase very thin tie wire that you could make up eye bolts perhaps and paint brass colour later.

I was thinking same as you just how critical the number of these eye bolts are and whether there were any extras in the issues because of that problem of wanting to fly off into space?Confused

Seems a little expensive to have to purchase back issues just for the eye bolts. Perhaps some of the long time members may be able to throw some better light on your question. BigGrin

Hi Martyn's,
The fish hooks worked a treat. Paint them bronze and whalla. Cost a dollar. Used the long shank as they don't have bend in them. Thanks mate.

Hi Ted

Pleased to see you were successful re fishhooks.Cool

I've put into my notes if required.BigGrin

Found out something else that's handy and that's the wire tying of the blocks re the loops and handling because they are so tiny.

I kept losing them on the floor.Laugh

If you look on Build Discussion you'll see question "Efficient way to make up blocks".

karl1113 shed some light on it that I think is the answer and I will do as he suggests. His reply answer is simple when you think about it.BigGrin

If you are not having any problems with handling them then no worries. Thought I'd just pass on if any help in future.

Regards

Hello
I'm on issue 40 and I have a small bag of spares from the cannons which I'm sure includes a couple of the eye bolts
Not sure if this is due to picking errors or to take into account the likelihood of us losing a couple of small bits but hopefully you will have the same 'extras''
Regards
Paul

Hi harvardhound

That's good to know. Cool

I sort of felt that they would put some extras in from previous model builders registered problems in the same area. We're only up to issue 5 re newsagents supply so had no way of knowing.

Regards and thanks. BigGrin

Hi everyone

An possible alternative to fish hooks, is to use HO scale wire lift rings from Details West, these are sold in packs of 24 and are used to detail locomotives.

The scale of these rings is 1:87, which is almost the same at the SoTS 1:84 and they are already formed, see the link attached, you can get them from good model train shops or Ebay or direct from the US.

Phil

Hi George,
Yes I saw Karl's reply to your question. I'll be trying that, but I'm going to wait until I have all the cannons and do them in one hit

I may have an answer. Try a fly tying clamp(for fishing flies). Lets you hold the items and pass things around them etc. I am using one just to hold things.

Cheers

Ted,

Most angling shops will have a fly tying clamp. Mine is a cheap table top one that clamps to the table and swivels so that you tie threads on the fly at various angles. You wouldn't swing Queen Mary of it, but is a useful tool. I have also used to set gemstones in earings etc.

Cheers
