Andy, the loco is looking fantastic! I am almost second guessing my choice to do mine in brass. Tired, Old, and Cranky!

Hi Phil I generally use a product called Canbrush, primer surfacer grey C5 , I have added a link to flea-bay but this is just to show the product as I generally pay around £3.00 per can over here. If you have ever used any of the Plasticote range of paints it gives a similar finish for a lot less and is good for wood metal and plastic. Hope this helps regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy Thanks for your response , I was just curious as to whether it was an etch primer or a surface primer. I know what you get over there, is generally something totally different here. However, I bought a surface primer and some thinner this morning from the local auto shop. As far as the black top coat goes....I found a friendly and somewhat curious spray painter who is mixing a weathered black for the top coat for me at his shop....be interesting to see how it looks. Hi Andy Thanks for that, I suspected you would have used a degreaser....I was considering a short bath in some white vinegar before applying the undercoat. A few sites in the US I've looked at suggest it.....so I'll test a few scraps I have first. Regards Phil You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.

Hi All This month its more pumps and air cylinders to add these have been painted and attached to the engine. The first parts of the cabin have arrived also, here I didn't think using glue to join the top members to the cabin was a good idea as butt joints are never strong in general and o good knock will split it apart, so I have soldered these parts to the cab still needs a clean up inside but looks good. The fire box has been made up as has the cabin floor but no paint as yet as there is more to add here.
