Gandale wrote:Hi Derek, great work as usual and loving the build to date..... .. I too wear varifocals all day long and when it comes to close up work on my builds I use one of these headbands and find it to be simply invaluable.... The headband has interchangeable lenses but I find the use on only one (x4) is perfect for most of the close up work I do, it also has a built in led lamp but find I don't use that very often.... in all honesty, I wouldn't be without my headband magnifier, and have had no adverse affects through using it,,,,, Hope this answers your question.... Hi All, Many thanks to all above for their comments and enthusiasm. There is still a long way to go with this one, but will try to keep it at a speed that will keep interest going. Stevie_o, Now I now you`ve been waiting for the Lanc build, but it will be a slow starter, because the first parts are very small, very detailed and need some tiny painting. To give you some idea, this a pic of: Top left: Pilot seat Top right: Pilots seat air frame base Bottom left: Control console Bottom right: Pilot and of course the penny Pic 1 Will update when some progress made. Steve Hi Steve, That is the multi million dollar question. There is so much detail in these small kits and some of it you won`t be able to see when it`s complete. So I have both options open at the moment as I have air and ground crew figures available. I`ve even got the option of having a crew member being removed on a stretcher to the waiting ambulance, so as I say I could be doing a lot of stuff that won`t be seen. Updates to follow. Will be starting the dio base work next weekend, so hopefully may then start getting a better idea of the end scene. Hope that makes things clearer, well may be not. The detail you are applying to this Derek is going to give you a coffee table that will be a beautiful work of art.... Can't wait to see you start on the table itself to give us an idea as to how the final product is likely to look..... .. Keep up the great work you are doing..... Regards Alan

Hi All, Small update about the Lancaster detail. NB: It is at this point that I have to admit I may have totally lost the plot in life. This kit is 1:72 and here are the detail kits.Pic 1 Some parts removed and used for following pics.Pic 2 Here is a pic of a small section of the instructions for the pilot`s seat belt. Note the size written next to the pull down straps.Pic 3 This next pic shows one of the pull down straps in place, after 5 attempts. Focus not good cos Iphone not good with things this small, but you`ll get the idea.Pic 4 Last pic today, shows the lap belts in place on the pilot`s seat.Pic 5 That`s all for today: I`m going for a lay down in a darkened room. Lovely etch Del, this really will look stunning - all credit to your patience Is it pre painted or did you do that? With all this detail inside can I recommend some vac formed canopies, here is a full set - http://www.ebay.co.uk/it...aster-set-/231091142267
This is to give a scale thickness to the glass and also allow a much better view of all your hard work inside, the glass supplied in most kits is usually distorted and difficult to see through and you cant exactly leave it open on this model either. And if you dont fancy painting / masking the canopy framework try these too http://www.ebay.co.uk/it...amp;hash=item2ec15b5f3d

Hi Del Having used very small etch myself i can simpathise with you some of it is a total miniscule pain. Nice etch though the pre painted is a must in this size. Just take your time with it and it will all come together and give an emense amount of satisfaction. Keep up the good work and keep the pics comming regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All, Many thanks to those above for the kind comments and helpful info. Steve, great links, many thanks. This kit has some great detail included and the glass work is no exception, with side windows in the main canopy that can be set in the open position. Hence the detail that "can" be seen will be in full view. The decal stripes are great and I will be using them in future builds, but have already purchased a masking kit , so will be painting the frame work. (Darn cool idea though, never could paint thin straight lines). Will have some more updates soon, but in the meantime some real heavy brass work is underway at a very slow pace. Yes, the Stuka JU87 is taking off. (It`s a heck of a long runway though) Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
