I read in one of the forums which I can,t find, that they added weights to the hull to stabilize it and not be top heavy. Any thoughts? Previous builds Bounty, Cutty Sark, Red Baron Triplane, Bismark,Titanic,Endeavour http://jockspage.webs.com/

Hi Jock Some people have done this, not me personally though. My Victory even off the stand with masts on is not inclined to tip over. I guess it's up to you really. Steve

Thanks for the link. I'm adding some red gum pieces between some of the frames, this should add some stability when rigging is completed, don't forget these ships carried ballast not only to keep the vessel upright in the wind but also to counter balance the rigging. Considering the weight of the hull (Frames, decks, cannons, and other parts) compared to the weight of the rigging (a few dowels and blocks) I don't think the need for ballast is something that I would consider. All 6 of the tall ships I have built stand perfectly stable. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Hi Jock, I'm well into this build and have got to issue 99... Have to say, apart from the balsa infills I did I have applied any other ballast... so far she is stable in her cradle and quite weighty.... Don't see any need to weigh her down further....
