The spotting top ribs is one are the instructions are a little cage about. 'glue the 27 ribs in place referring to the plan' so this is my how to guide - hope it is useful BigGrin

1. mark out the positions of the ribs using the plans.

2. sand one end of your 2x5mm plank so it sits flush with the edge and is at the correct angle as per your marked out plan (don't forget your measuring from the upper edge. mark out the length of the rib and saw off slightly longer to give you some wriggle room

3. mark out the step that needs to be cut into the rib. (don't assume it will always be the same do this for every rib). mark both sides and connect up all the points so you have a mark on all sides.

4. file out the step using a corse square needle file.. I use a diamond cut type. test fit the rib and adjust as necessary until you have a nice snug fit.

5. Once you are happy with the fit mark out the other end of the rib on both sides and sand this to shape. Keep test fitting until it is perfect.

6. measure 1mm from the bottom of the rib and mark off, then draw a line from your mark to the top corner, this will be your sanding line.

7. clamp your rib in a vice or similar and sand down to your line. A barrel sander in a rotary tool is perfect for this. If using a power tool stop above the sand line and finish off by hand.

8. Once you have sanded down we can finish the rib. Using a circular motion gently sand all exposed sides on 1800 micro-mesh (if you are staining this will remove any remaining pencil marks) then repeat with 3200 grit micro-mesh

9. Test fit again before fixing in place. Glue in place and wipe away any excess with a tissue. if you cannot get in to wipe away then after a few seconds you should be able to scrap away any excess adhesive with a cocktail stick

Once the glue is dry sand down the top of the rib flush with the top of the upper surround and finish with the two micro-mesh pads so it is nice and smooth.

It should take about 15 - 20 mins to do each rib, so a few hours work but your results will be worth the time.
