Hi all, issue 84 got underway and I finally finished adding the vertical cornice's along the starboard side.... Found the cutting and adding of the small 2mm strips at the base of each vertical strip the most fiddly and time consuming part.... getting this part right I think really enhances the overall appearance.... . Now starting the port side..... Happy building all..... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Hi Alan Fantastic work as always!!! You went for the wood look instead of the painted version on the hull, is it still necessary to paint the top black? Or do you need the black to show off the gold decorations? Regards Kobus
Current Build HMS Sovereign of the Seas - First Build

Or do you need the black to show off the gold decorations? Regards Hi Kobus, thanks again for the kind comments.... .. I went down the route of the wood look simply because I didn't like the white hull so used walnut strips and varnish to achieve the look I wanted... As for the black, this is down to your own personal choice and for me I believe it really shows up the gold decoration on the ship but that is just my opinion of course.... I thinned down the black to more like a wash so that it would be absorbed by the wood rather than simply sit on top, 3 coats in total were applied and of course some touching up has to be done as the build progresses... .. The choice is yours as to how you want your build to look..... Hope this answers your question..... Regards Alan
