Great to see you are keeping up with the issues too and I think from here on most of the work will be in painting and adding all the bling with a little bit of building thrown in..... .. Thanks again.... Regards Alan

Hi everyone, today managed to get quite a bit done on the old girl.... Continued with issue 84 by fitting all the vertical cornice's on the port side, then moved onto fitting 6 cleats onto the upper quarterdeck followed by a further 10 to the quarterdeck... Cleats were first given a coat of primer followed by 2 coats of acrylic metallic bronze. Finished off issue 84 with the priming and painting of the stern statuettes.... Moved onto issue 85, first attaching the stern statuettes but I have left the final one off until I receive the wreath thingamabob the statuette sits on in issue 86, want to ensure I get it positioned just right.... .. Next task was to construct the framing that sits on the bulkhead of the upper quarterdeck, this proved to be little fiddly but got there in the end..... Stained the framing with two coats of medium oak before finally fitting the brass mesh to the back.... Swapped over the mesh with 1mm diamond mesh and when dry fitted in place.... .. Next task is to construct the railings for the front of the upper quarterdeck...... .. Am very happy with how everything is coming together..... Happy building all... Hi Alan Begining to wonder why she was called the Sovereign of the Seas, due to her fire power or to all the bling on board? She is looking stunning now! Regards Kobus

Issue 85 now complete with the making up of the upper quarterdeck railings..... Straight forward construction process but for those following, be extremely careful with the framing it is extremely delicate to say the least, probably the most delicate piece of the build to date...... .. Railings have been given 2 coats of medium oak stain.... That's it until the release of the next issue but at least I can have a few hours working on the Titanic..... .. Happy building all.... Issue 86 now complete, not much to do in this one except painting and adding more bling to the lower stern.. some intricate painting and am happy to say I have joined the penny club..... .. This means I have almost a week on working on the Titanic so should be able to move that one forward.... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Brill stuff Alan, I bet before starting this (your 1st ship) you never imagined it would look this good. This is the only diary on here where I don't mind you saying you are going to put this down for a week, because then we get to see the Titanic move forward Steve

I am very pleased with how she is progressing but I would still like to see my first build complete.... long ways to go yet..... Regards Alan

Hi Alan
Just been looking at your build and must say it looks absolutely terrific. I just hope mine will reach just half this super standard. I'm only up to issue 7 so far and as I said to my newsagent supplier recently I hope to live long enough to complete it! (I'm 72) Just one little query - how are the cannons installed? will they fit through the ports? Are they glued into place?
Regards JohnP

Regards JohnP Hi John and thanks for your very kind comments... I like you started this as a first timer to this hobby so am sure your's will be just as good. Follow the instructions, read the diaries available for tips and techniques especially Mr T's official build diary.... .. As for the cannons, the cannons on the top decks are full cannons, ie they are complete with carriages and rigging. Cannons on the lower decks are barrels only where a hole is drilled into the dummy gun supports inside the gun port and the barrel is inserted into the hole. When you get to the stage of fitting the dummy gun supports then make sure they are securely fitted to take the riggors of drilling into at a later stage.... Hope this helps and thanks for looking in... Regards Alan
