Right, delivery three has been safely received and work is underway. Still no issue 6 so work on the launch has stalled at the moment. I have the bag of components (oars, mast, anchor, twine and planks) so they will stay in the bag for now, next month hopefully. The other issues consist of more ribs and the final section of the false keel. I have re-made the jig using 18mm ply and rigid joints. After reading some posts on here, I though my pine shelf would potentially warp over time so opted for the ply. And that's it for another month. False keel finished, jig made and ribs slotted in place. cruorangelussilicis attached the following image(s):

Indeed, nice clean start.
How does the keel look when it's out of the jig? Nice and straight so far?

Hi again guys PC issues sorted (chucked the old one out and purchased a new one) and now can continue my build log. I'm up to issue 19 and am working my way through it slowly. As you can see from my tool box organiser, I have a nice selection of parts waiting to be sorted, the launch for one. But have decided to leave it for a minute while I fit the lower decks to the Victory. Many thanks to Stevie who kindly sent me a load of pins so I could start this long and quite relaxing process. So far, I've just put one pin in each of the four lower deck sections to make sure she's straight and true which she appears to be so far. It's really starting to look like something now. cruorangelussilicis attached the following image(s):

Looking good Mike, nice and straight, frame 31 could have done with being pushed down a little further into the slot, the top of the frame is generally level with the top of the false keel sternpost. I can't really see how much higher yours is but it's not a lot at all. This frame will determine the position of the gallery supports. Here's the official build pic. Steve

Steve Indeed, you've got eyes like a hawk! Fortunately, I haven't glued it into place yet (am still on issue 17). Thanks for the heads up though, will make sure she's spot on when I get to issue 18.

I was hoping it was a dry run Mike, there have been a few that have not pushed this down all the way as it can be a tight fit. Steve

Thanks for the comments, you seem to spend so long waiting for issues to arrive and seemingly very little to do then all of a sudden it starts to look like a ship! I can't believe how quickly she comes together once the lower and mid decks go in.
I'm really trying to be as neat as possible and think I have achieved it so far. I'm going to build the first launch before planking the Victory's hull to get a bit of practice.

That's the right idea Mike, take your time, in the end it's you that has to be happy with the result. The launch is very good practice for the real planking and is a tricky little model in it's own right Steve

I've been busy with the next few issues and am pleased with the progress so far. Planking is fast approaching. I have opted for the cutaway and I am undecided as to whether to go for a natural finish or paint scheme for the build. I messed up my first 12 pounder and built it backwards and was not happy with the caronade or first anchor either so I have ordered the issues to build them again. I have used a french oak varnish for the middle deck which I think looks pretty nice. cruorangelussilicis attached the following image(s):

Looks good Mike, The finish of paint or natural is entirely your choice, there are some fantastic builds of each finish on here to help you decide. The natural finish is very unforgiving, no hiding place for mistakes I built my first 10 cannons backwards, check out my diary at the beginning - it was too late before I noticed so left them as they were The instructions in the mag were wrong I think and I didnt spot the edit in a later issue. Steve
