Hi All,  Need to give my eyes something larger to focus on, every so often, so made a start on the Hachette Stuka. The air frame is made of brass and that is where the build starts. The first section to build is the cockpit floor, followed by the double skinned front and rear bulkheads. The detail in this kit is immense from what I`ve seen so far. So here goes. The parts are all removed from brass frets and then any rough parts left behind are filed away. The cockpit floor is made up of a four part box section, the parts of which are located together using a pin and hole process. When the glue has set the excess pin showing through is cut/filed off. As you have to set the parts square you need to keep the base flat, but as you have pins sticking through that`s not possible, so I acquired a piece of high density foam. This allows you to keep the base flat while the pins penetrate the foam.Pic 1 THE COCKPIT FLOOR The channeled base is removed from the fret along with the first side of the box section. When the edges were cleaned up and the fit had been checked (twice) they were glued and set square.Pic 2 The second side of the box section was added next, but even with a 1" set square I couldn`t check it was square, so I placed the top plate on to hold it until the glue had set.pic 3 When set the top plate of tha box section was glued and added. Pic 4 When set the excess pin length`s were removed. Next step is to construct one of the bulkheads. See you soon. Hi All, Thanks to Alan and Andy for looking in UPDATE Two bulkheads have to be made and fitted to either end of the cockpit floor. The construction of both is identical, so will show the first one and then update again when the second is fitted. The bulkhead consists of two face plates and three spacing plates. Two of the spacers have to be bent at their centre points to make them fit and the third is curved along it`s length so it fits. The brass in this kit is so thick that channels are cut in the parts to make the bending very easy. First plate and spacer being set in position.Pic 1 Second spacer fitted (arrows indicate the bend points)Pic 2 The third spacer was gently teased into shape from the centre outwards on both sides and then fitted into place.Pic 3 When the spacers are firmly set the second face plate is attached.Pic 4 At this point I removed any protruding pin ends that would be in the way and attached the bulkhead to the cockpit floor.Pic 5 That`s almost the end of issue one. The cockpit facia is extremely detailed and starts with a base plate, which is then built up in layers. This work I will not be doing until later in the build, as it`s not continued until about issue 18. Here`s a pic of the base parts of the facia.Pic 6 Well that`s all for now, issue 1 all but complete. Now it`s back to Google translate for issue 2, good thing is that some of issue 2 is a repeat of issue 1, so may not take as long. Hi All, Firstly many thanks to Alan and Trev, thanks for looking in and your comments. As I said, the second bulkhead is as per the first. So first pic is the first fret of issue two. From the above fret, bulkhead two is made and there are three reinforcement brackets to be made.These brackets need folding, but as before they are already grooved to enable easy bending. Pic two shows the second bulkhead assembled and fixed to the cockpit floor. The second and final fret of issue 2 consists of four stringers, these extend the air frame to the next bulkheads and they have numerous notches, slots, lugs etc. So will have to translate that bit to make sure everything is in the right place. Hi Del I presume you assembling this using Super glue, if that is so there is a product called 'super glue remover gel' which you just cover the glued area with and leave overnight to free the parts you wish unglued. Hi All, So, progress so far has not been a struggle. My German is improving to a point that I don`t have to translate everything, as certain words and phrases are being repeated for common parts and construction. To end issue two, three brackets had to be fitted. Two at one end of the cockpit floor and one at the other. These small brackets are cut from the brass fret and then folded at the point where the brass is channeled to make folding easy. The end with two brackets.Pic 1 After the brackets have been added, four stringers are added to extend the air frame. ISSUE 3 starts here: It`s just when everything thing seems to be tripping along nicely, that as is the modelers thing, something comes along to: a: Kick you firmly in the teeth and b: Slow thing down dramatically  The parts for issue 3 consist of three bulkhead formers and six stringers. Two of the bulkhead parts are identical (except one has an extra hole in it) the third is obviously different. At this point I headed for Google Translate and after an hour I was no further forward to working out the orientation of the three parts.  I now started ploughing through pages of instructions to try and resolve this issue. The pictures of the parts did not show one with an extra hole and one side of the two frames that are the same are not the same as the other. I got to issue 19 before I found the answer. Thank goodness I bought this as a complete kit, or I could have been in severe pooh trying to correct an error 16 parts in the making. That issue dealt with I fitted the three bulkheads, here`s a pic of progress at this point.Pic 2 Things now got back to normal and with the now easier pics to follow I added four stringers to support the floor where it is extended behind the cockpit area.Pic 3 To finish issue 3 two stringers were now added to the outside of the air frame.Pic 4 Issue 4 Issue four is quite basic, but a little bit of careful unguided part bending is required. The parts:Pic 5 These parts make up another double skinned bulkhead and add more stringers. The spacers between the bulkhead plates have to be shaped to fit the pins in the relevant holes. The smallest is easy, channeled bending points. The second and larger one has to be shaped around a Bleistift, Sorry a pencil  When the spacers are a good fit, the bulkhead plates can be fitted. You end up with this:Pic 6 Three more stringers are now fitted as per the instructions. It is at this point that extreme care is required. You need to fit this bulkhead inside the previously assembled parts. Slots and pins pointed in different directions does not make this an easy job. Fitted this section dry and then fed in some superglue on the end of a toothpick. Pin ends removed and bulkhead fitted.Pic 7 Well that`s it, end of issue 4. Gonna have a good read, "er" look at issue 5 before advancing further.
