Before you can add your strips of wood, or in this case bamboo the ribs need to be sanded to shape so that your strips lie correctly and have a good surface area to fix your planks to. Its the most important part of the build after having your ribs sit correctly. But don't worry about it the instructions will walk you through it. Hi Ted As Jase said the process will be explained as you get to this stage but basically it means that the frames edges must follow the curvature of the ships hull. You can do this with a rough file or sanding block and it's very important to take your time and get this right. So, at the bow / stern you will need to chamfer the edges of the frames to follow the natural curve, the further from midship the more shaping will be required. Test with a length of planking strip by holding it against the frames horizontally - the plank should make full contact with the entire width of each frame, make this check at various points down the hull from deck to keel. Here is pic taken from elsewhere in this forum showing this process - Also, take a look at page 8 of this excellent guide, MSW have granted permission for a link to this - http://modelshipworldfor...ingprojectbeginners.pdf
