Hi All,

Last stage was issue 7, where I made up the base plate of the pilot`s control peddles.

Issue 8 goes on to add the control levers and the pedal brackets. The last addition is obviously the foot pedals themselves, these include a heel stop and an over the foot strap, where the brass parts are fed through each other like a buckled strap.

A lot of the parts are fine etched and most are double plated to give the extra thickness where required.

Any parts that revolve around the pivot pin have to be fixed together on the pin, but not stuck to the pin as before.

First the pivot bar retainer brackets (four in total, two parts each). Pic 1


The two pins locate into the base plate, I did not glue these in place until I confirmed that everything else would fit together.

The swing arms for the foot pedals are made up of three parts each.

There are obviously two of these parts, the reverse side is smooth brass.

Two parts have to be fixed to the reverse side to show the inside detail of the swinging arms.

The next pic shows one of the interior detail panels fitted to the right hand side. Pic 3


When you have fitted both interior parts to both levers thay have to be bent along the pre-scored lines.

Two more small levers are now made from four parts and everything is ready to put together on the pivot bar. Pic 5


You will see that at this point the pivot bar retainers are still not fixed in place. Had to assemble everything on the bar and then fix in place. Pic 6


At this point two end of bar retainers are made up(yep, you guessed, two parts each) and the foot plates.

Each foot plate has a heel stop to bend up and shape and a foot retainer strap is fixed over the top.

This is the completed construction to this point. I think there will be cables or part thereof to attach to this at a later stage.

So as I say, that`s the end of issue 8.

The build now moves onto the Pilot`s seat and harness, but too say the least, it is no less impressive in detail than the foot pedals.


The build will slow for a few days as work commitments are overtaking available build time.

HI All,

First off: Thanks for looking in Jase, your wait is over.

Secondly:Thanks to Adrie for looking in and the UBER-comments and as at this moment in time the eyes are holding up OK.(JUST)

So here`s the update:

Having previously removed the main seat panel from the fret, I stuck the seat sides to the back.

Some edge reinforcement was then added to both sides of the seat. Pic 1


The next miniature addition was four reinforcements for the seat fixing points, where it fixes to the seat adjuster carriage. Pic 2

It shows the four parts fitted.
They were applied with the use of a good old cocktail stick, to make sure the holes lined up.Pic 3


I now moved on to the next section.

This section further adds to the seat detail and begins the addition of the pilots harness.

First addition: the centre harness attachment on the rear of the seat. Pic 4


The above part was only stuck to the seat via the bottom half, so that later on seat belts can be threaded through the slots in the upper bracket.

Next are the seat adjuster cables. (Note the two tabs that were at each side of the back of the seat have now been turned into box sections - shown by the arrows).Pic 5


The seat back is now extended to accommodate the head rest later-on.
This is just a flat plate that`s bent along a scored line and added to the back of the original seat back. This is carefully fitted so as not to cover the harness slots in the seat. Pic 6


The final job for issue 9, is to fit two harness brackets to the sides if the seats.
This was a real eye strainer as you will see. Pic 7


The parts in the above pic make the pivot pins.

You place a ring on each pin, the pins are then inserted through the hole in the seat corner, from the inside.(Nothing stuck at this point)

A bracket is then placed on the pin, on the outside of the seat.

That`s followed by a second ring, which is glued to the outside end of the pin, so the bracket can swing on the pin.

When set the excess pin is cut away.

That operation is repeated on the other side of the seat.

The parts left in the fret are saved for a later issue in the build. Making the pilot`s harness.Pic 9

I have completed issue 10, but as you may imagine the eyes are done for the day,so update to follow soon.

Hi All,

As promised today is the update of issue 10.

Issue 10 is the first using MDF, but that said it`s the easiest part of the build so far.

The six small parts were removed from the fret. The small squareish part and the larger oblong part will be saved for later, these make up the pilots back and head rests.

Nothing technical here, just follow the orientation of the parts according to the instruction pics and you end up with this. Pic 1


So, that`s the main seat base, still to be painted before the addition of the seat adjuster mechanism. (covered next).

The seat adjuster mechanism.

This is made up of numerous brass etch parts, with a bit of strategic bending included.

The main part seen below makes up the right hand side rail and adjuster lever. Pic 2


The left red arrow indicates the small lug that fits into the hole shown by the right red arrow. This is brought about by bending the centre part of the piece into a box section using the pre-scored lines.
The two green arrows show where the lever and side seat rail are bent upwards to meet either side of the box section.

Now I think that this part looks pretty well detailed at this point, but, this kit now layers up the detail even more.

A detailed centre plate is added to the lever. Pic 5

The next pic just shows three brass parts that are used to thicken certain areas, in this case the two seat mounting point and the lever handle. Pic 8


The last pic for now shows how the seat will fit on the right hand rail.
(There is a rail to make still for the left hand side, but not so complex)Pic 9


Still a small section of issue 10 to come, then it`s onto issue 11 where I will be constructing the pilots harness parts.

The harness is not fitted to the seat until the end of issue 15, but I may bring that forward as nothing else is done to the relevant parts in between times.
