Well, I've received the third set of issues from 8-11. I've started the launch build. This is the first time experiencing planking.

Interested to see when you stain launch. I will look in regularly. BigGrin

I've decided to paint mine to cover any sins. Laugh

Not sure yet what colours but I'm inclining to go for the ship's colour scheme on outer. BigGrin

Of course there is lots more to do on launch regards fittings so it could be some time before we get in issues. BigGrin

It is certainly meticulous and satisfying work. Thank you for the compliments guys.

I've been looking at the build finishes and it is very interesting as to how many differing builds there are out there.

Well, I think I'm going to follow that as well and put a few modifications in the build during this journey.

Well, taking time to put it together as I've found is so important, even if it takes many minutes to fashion parts. To fashion the last small planks onto the Launch, I put tracing paper over the area and drew the outline, drew it on the plank and then fashioned it out, sanded it and fitted it.

I've sanded the Launch down now and is ready for the next installments. I'm going to get some Satin Grain Filler Stains, maybe in Mahogany and Medium Oak for the whole build. I'll try it out first though.

Thanks for that. I do admit that it is very delicate. I am being very careful sanding. I'm using a very fine grained sand paper.

Hi Guys,

I'm really enjoying this project. It's what I have expected it to be so far. I really appreciate all the comments. I'm looking forward now to the next part of the build. I've put the Ship's Rib Frame together. I'll look to reinforce the frame soon and I've also shaped the rear bracing pieces so they don't get in the way of the planking. I've also sanded down the Stern part of the keel to be ready for planking (as taken from MWG's build). I don't want to sand the planking down later.

Great job on the ships boat Michael - the planking is superb. Makes mine look rather like a sieve, so I'm going to paint it to cover all the faults!! Blushing
