Application

Prepare the aileron as per the instructions and paint as you would like the finish to be, finally spray with a coat of varnish to seal the colour to the part.
Then apply undiluted dope to the leading and trailing edges of the aileron and leave to dry. Cut an oversize piece of nylon, we will be using one piece to cover the upper and lower surfaces starting with the lower surfaces.
Once the dope has dried take your nylon and drape it over the leading edge of the aileron so an equal amount hangs down either side. then using a brush dipped in cellulose thinner paint it over the nylon along the leading edge of the aileron, the thinners will soften the dope and allow the nylon to stick to it. Leave for a few minutes to dry.
Then work your way from one end to the other using thinners to soften the dope and pull the nylon to get as many creases out of the nylon as you go also folding over the nylon onto the upper surface [ only 2/3 mm is needed] of the trailing edge. Some trimming as you go will also be needed
Leave to dry and then coat the trailing upper edge with fresh dope.
Trim the lower sides of the aileron and use thinners to fold the nylon up.
The upper surface is a repeat of the lower surface but do not fold it under the trailing edge just let the dope thinners dry and then trim off carefully along the upper edge. Finally a couple of coats of 50% dope/thinners then use dope until you get a smooth coating. But remember not to use too much as it can distort the parts .

Andy
