Hi All I have in my stash the Panart 1/16 Victory launch/sloop, now these little ships were tasked very hard by the crew and were mostly used to collect supplies and water but its main function was to set the anchors when the ship was out of port and needed to drop anchor in open sea or a bay. The launch as supplied with the Victory is therefore missing two vital pieces of equipment namely a central windlass, admitidly there is a windlass fitted to the launch but its is a single affair and should have an extra winding piece and a davit at the stern and this item is really to give people an idea of perhaps scratch building the items and adding them to the launch as provided for historic accuracy at least. Do not get me wrong the launch as it is, is a good example of the launch that is currently displayed today the above items I suspect being removed when they became redundant. Todays ships have powerful motors that do the setting of anchors without the need for a launch but in Nelsons day the it was pure brawn and muscle power that was used to set the anchors and the launch was an important part of the ship and its loss could cause quite a few problems. I have used the box art to display the two items mentioned above and there not great pic's but if any one fancy's adding these items then PM me and I can provide better information. Regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Lovely kit Andy - I have the Panart 1/16 Armed Pinnace on it's way, they are pretty similar so I will be watching yours closely Steve

Hi Steve She certainly is a nice kit and has a novel way of using an insert inside the hull to do the planking which is then removed, it will be a while before I start her though as I will finish the 'gun bays' first. I just thought that pointing out some added detail would appeal to some of our scratch builders. stevie_o wrote:Lovely kit Andy - I have the Panart 1/16 Armed Pinnace on it's way, they are pretty similar so I will be watching yours closely Steve Steve/Andy The pinnacle is a triple planked kit. It's very very complete apart from one omission I thought most odd. The main canon and 2 side canon have open canon ball racks but strangely no canon balls supplied. Mine were not missing - they are just not part of the kit which is most odd. I guess easily obtained though through the likes of cmb. Kind regards Tony Happy Modelling

Hi Tony The launch is also triple planked like the pinnace, its unusual for Panart to miss or omit parts but thanks for the heads up Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

hi andy, the only reason I mentioned it,was because I had great difficulty finding it,as I headed the build as mystery boat, as the launch was being done on the vic at that time. Hi Andy. That is certainly a great looking launch. I'd go as far as to say lots better than the SOTS launch in appearance. Regards George Building HMS SOTS
