Hi All... I'm thinking of doing a different ship but what do you guys think of this ship... It comes as plans and cut wood. Then you buy everything else separate. HMS FLY 1:64 Victory Models... . On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Hi Chris You are lucky to have a dilemma like this! It looks like Cornwall Boats is selling a complete kit with all the options included. On-line Hobby shop is selling options separately, so you need to add these up and convert Euros to real money to compare. Just to add more confusion have you seen HMS Pegasus She was apparently a sister ship of HMS Fly both Swan class ship rigged sloops. Dearer kit but they are making a feature of the coppering which looks interesting. Overall they represent interesting examples of sixth rates which did all the menial convoy tasks and tended to be forgotten alongside the larger frigates and ships of the line. If I wasn't struggling to find the time for the kits I have at present I would be sorely tempted. On balance I would buy a complete kit and know it was all there. Mike T

HMS Fly and the HMS Pegasus both look good, I like the copper bottom on the Pegasus.

I have spent the last two weeks cursing my way through the re-rigging of my Del Prado Cutty Sark, cursing because I am working from memory and from pictures of the actual clipper, but now I see the completed model in sight and am now looking at another in between build...Glutton for punishment?...maybe, but this a very addictive and satisfying gluttony...I know Nelson captained the Agamemnon, a 3rd rate ship and considering going for that one, but it is around £500 from Cornwall Model Boats, something that I have got to give some serious thought to...and convincing the missus to go along with it is going to take some doing..what price is a good bribe these days eh?? Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...
