Hi Steve and welcome

If you have not had any experience in clear coating before then I would not suggest attempting it. Many builders of this kit have had mixed experiences as I'm sure they will testify to.

The only reason that the chrome "dulls" is probably down to a non aquas clear being used.

Thanks Warthog

I do have experience with clearcoating and if I was making this for myself then I would probably do it but as its for a 13 year old nephew I just wondered as I wouldn't want to spoil it.

My current way of clearcoating is to make sure the body is dry after I wash it then airbrush 1 or 2 coats of Vallejo premium air gloss followed by 2 coats of Plasti-Kote clear straight from the can which works perfectly for me on 1/24th scale models.

I am looking forward to doing this and I'm already researching online

cheers

Hi Steve, well if it's for your Nephew then I'm sure he will be happy with it as is and a very lucky Nephew at that? A big Lewis fan then?

I'm always experimenting with different ways to gloss models and some I use Tamiya wax as you can build the shine up to how you want it without it looking "too" glossy and out of scale if you understand what I mean? BigGrin

Hi Spencer,

He is a big Lewis fan and I'm looking forward to building the kit for him.

I probably will just polish the model the last time I just polished I used Meguiars real car Gold polish and this worked just fine so may go down that road I have lots of different polishes for modellers some seem to work whilst others don't but I'm rearing to go and getting the workbench clear

Will post some pics once I get started

Best wishes
Steve
