Hi All, Martyn, Andy and Steve. Many thanks for looking in and the encouraging comments, as for "putting it down" Steve, if the detail gets any smaller than the stuff I`m dealing with now, then I won`t be able too see it to pick it up. The processes at the moment include making, buttons, switches and control levers for the pilots instrument panel. One of the control levers consists of three parts and would fit on a 1p piece approx 20 times, so small in fact that my Iphone is struggling to focus (along with my ageing eyes). Gonna have a well deserved beer now, then download the latest pics and give you an update later. Happy building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Firstly, a bit of an apology. Previously stated that some painting needed doing prior to progressing. DOH Some work to do, held over from issue 1 and the beginning of issue 18 before the paint job. Then a full apology. My Iphone is not coping with the size of the parts in the following update. (Time to invest in a decent camera) As the funds for a new camera are not available at this moment in time, please excuse some of the following pics. ______________________________________________ So, update time. Back tracking to issue 1, you have these parts.Pic 1 As you will have read early on in this build, I kept these parts back as I wanted to make this as complete a build session as I could, for this section of the build. (An advantage of buying a complete kit as a one off) So here we go, The Pilots Instruments and Fascia Controls: The biggest part is the base for the top layer of the Fascia. The smaller parts, build up on the 3D enhancement of the panel.Pic 2 One thing to bear in mind with a lot of these parts, is their orientation. They have thin/thick, sides/ends so test fit every part before they get anywhere near adhesive. Part in place in Pic 3 With the above part, you will notice that orientation is imperative. The main slot cut in the part is central, but the smaller slot is higher than the centre line of the part. Part fitted. Pic 4 The next part. Pic 5 The lining up of the holes in this part of the base plate needed some thought. Small parts, even smaller holes and super glue. Answer: Cocktail sticks. (If Gandale`s left any on the market) Put a stick in each hole from underneath and clamp them in a small vice. Then remove the base plate, you end up with a jig for fitting the next part. Pic 6 Made a couple of dry runs to make sure this would work, then placed base plate on jig, applied adhesive to part to be fixed, fitted part and then immediately removed base plate with added part in exact location. Base plate on jig. Pic 7 So, as said applied glue to next part, put in place then removed base plate immediately from jig. The result. Pic 8 The next part to be added has three locating points, so easiest bit so far. Pic 9 Fitted. Pic 10 The next part to be fitted has seven holes to be lined up with the base plate, another jig required, because these holes are for the clocks/dials so need to be accurate. The answer was to find a drill bit of the size of the smallest hole and work the jig the same way as before. The parts. Pic 11 The jig: as before - different size Pic 12 The base plate in place. Pic13 The next part was then put in place and the base plate removed from the jig to give this result. Pic 14 OK, so that completes the 3D enhancements for the upper plate of the pilot`s control fascia. Next update to follow after dinner, where I make up micro switches, buttons and levers. Happy Building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Should you manage to get hold of this kit, don`t be too fussed about the translation thing, as 75% is self explanatory. Google Translate will do the rest for you. Hope you enjoy the rest of this build. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Having covered the delayed section of issue 1, here`s the start of issue 18. Here`s the parts supplied with this issue.Pic 1-2 Now having shown these parts, I want to give a close-up of the smallest of parts. There are two of these parts to make push buttons.Pic 3 This is the first kit I have dealt with, where they give you some spare parts, just in case the carpet gremlins get you. . Ok, now for some serious detail. This is one of the buttons in place.(Arrowed cos the pics NAFF)Pic 4 Two of the clock faces now have cowlings fitted above them. The parts. Pic 5 and fitted. Pic 6 That`s all the work on the fascia for now. The next task is to construct, push buttons, levers and turn switches, that will be fitted to the fascia at a later stage. The first is a push button. The stem of this button is a piece of flared tube, to which a disc is fitted on the end. To aid the fitting of the disc to the stem, I put the stem on the end of a cocktail stick. Pic 7 Parts together. Pic 8 Two control levers are now made from three parts each, (identical so will only show one). One disc to be added to each side of the lever to enhance the control handle. Pic 9 The finished item. Pic 10 A different shaped lever is now constructed from similar parts and a turn key is made from two identical parts stuck back to back. Here`s a final pic of the control items made to date. Pic 11 Now having looked through the instructions again, it`s now that I have to do some painting, before I start layering up the different layers of the finished control console. Will now be at work most of the time in the near future, so will update at the next availale time. Happy Building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Just got to work out the display cabinets, I say "cabinets" as the Stuka and the Spitfire are very much the same size. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

It also makes the build pull you along, so you want to get to the next part. Thanks for looking in and the comments. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

For translating, I recently discovered a fantastic app for my iPhone. It is called "wordlens." You open the app, get the image positioned, and the app translates the written words in the image. It is designed for reading signs and the like, but the first thing I did was test it on the directions for my Stuka. Some of it is a bit off, but it beats hell out of trying to enter all that German into Google translate! Tired, Old, and Cranky!

Downloaded it this morning before going to work and give it a quick test. It turned "Teile" into "Share" and not "Parts", but other than that it was darn near perfect. Will save me Oodles of time for the rest of the build. Many Thanks for that. Love it. Happy building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Having looked into the next few sections of the build, I thought I`d break away from the norm a bit. As I have bought this as a complete kit, I have the chance to look forward and save time. So, to that end, I`ve produced a couple of small items so I can have a mass paint spraying session in one go. Now this can be done by anyone who buys a kit weekly/monthly by stashing deliveries, but it`s down to personnel choice as to which way you proceed with your own build. Here`s the update then, Issue 19, provides two section bulk heads for the ends of the cockpit area. Pic 1 Here`s two pics of the parts out of the fret.Pics 2-3 Now these two parts, according to the instructions, are attached to the air frame and then painted . "Don`t Think this will be easy". So, "suggestion" is to paint the inside face of these parts and then, fit them in place and paint the outside afterwards. Results to show later, but I think worthwhile. Issue 20 starts the construction of one of the two oil tanks. Parts: Pic 4 The MDF sections, form up against the straight former. Stage pics as shown. Pics 5-6 The end shape comes out like this, when framed up between two mini set squares.Pic 7 The second oil tank (issue 21) is made up under the same circumstances. The parts. Pic 8 These are made up the same as parts in issue 20. Pic 9 Take care to use these parts as they come out of the fret. The edges are tapered, and the tank shape is tapered from one end to the other.Pic 10 Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Many, many thanks to all the posts above, Only there is one thing to add. My last post should have ended like this. !!! _______________________________________________________ With the above parts constructed, I now have ample stuff that needs spraying. So, will on Monday be having an all in spraying session. Pics to be posted soon. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) ____________________________________________________________ Only it ended in real time like this. Mobile phone rings: Lady from flat below. "HELP Bob`s having a heart attack" _____________________________________________________________ Good news is that, Bob, now has a stent fitted in the main artery to his heart and the prognosis is good. Thank goodness for advanced First-Aid from my diving days. So again, Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
