From your pic above your planking looks good, you may need to get a closer pic of the bow to show a bit more detail.
A slight clinkering effect at the bow is caused by not enough tapering or not enough chamfer / bevel on the planks. If it is very slight as yours seems to be then it will sand out fine.

If you are worried then just put up some more pics of the areas your are concerned about and we can take a lookBigGrin

Looks like you have made a good start. As Steve has said keep an eye on th clincer effect and post a couple of close up pics, but dosent look out of the ordinary at the moment.

Also before you do any more plating below your lowest current strip just re check your faring of the hull with a strip of card. You need to be sure your planks are making contact with the full width of the ribs as they take the bow curve.

Good start William, if you follow Steve and Jase's advise you cannot go wrong. Keep up the good work.

Not sure exactly what you mean by clinkering but you're the experts so I have uploaded some closer pictures of the bow. Let me know what you think and what you recommend doing. Just finished the 9th layer and planked the forward bulkhead / cut the stern gun ports. In the shot of the stern gun ports I haven't glued the left hand side of the stern planks to the side of the hulls planks yet because I had originally cut them to the length of the frames and had to carefully take them out and redo them, not ideal but I'm sure that's what you get when you don't read it properly!

I have also included a shot of both cannons. Yesterday was spent almost exclusively working on the carronade which I'm quite happy with but can someone give me some pointers with the other, I just doesn't look very authentic...?

Hi William, cannon and carronade look fabBigGrin

The planking looks fine and will sand out no problem, not sure if it's the light or camera angle but it looks a little like the bow formers on the starboard side (left of your pic) could have been fared a little more, the planks appear to bend over the one former rather than curve around gradually.

Also, on the stern you need to sand the final frame so that it is level with the stern post, meaning the frame and stern post are flat with no recess. Take a look at the final pic on the official build here -

Thanks fella, I will keep going at it but it takes ages at that angle so I'm doing it bit by bit. I think you're right about the bow former. It's that first one to the right (former 9) that's the issue I think, not much I can do about it at this stage I'm guessing?

Quick question, I'm starting the stern planks on row 10 and I've got quite a large dip created by frame 26. I've checked the numbers and am 99% sure that it's correct but before I started I wanted to ask if this is normal??
