Luxury. I work between the mowing machine and her gardening tools, not in the house that's reserved for other things like women's clubs. When I built the Bounty, I'd nearly finished it when one of the cats eat the main mast and the rigging. It took me three months to repair it and 6 months before the cats would speak to me again.So now I'm confined to the garden shed. ArtfulBodger Previous Build: HMS. Bounty

Hi shipmates!  The answer to the wife cleaning up as you have just started to work on your ship and the cats are pinching everything on the table is a DIVORCE!  cost you alot,  but the piece is great.  Best of all the place is all your's well not quite! as she got the house, half your pay, the car, those cats YES!, and your in a little 1 bedroom flat with dirty dishes up to the ceiling, as you wading through more rubbish than what's in the council tip. Just joking!  If it wasn't for your wife's doing a great job, a lot of you wouldn't find the ship under all those pizza boxes, takeaways and the rest of the mess. Never mind finding those little parts that keep vanishing as you put them down. I guess that's one of those unanswered mysteries of the universe. Hope that last part gets me out of trouble with the women? PUNCH, BANG, BANG, CRASH OUCH! GUESS NOT!

Absolutely. Oh and one more. When there 5 or more things together including your fingers, that Superglue could bond instantly and permanently, all will stick except the part you are working on. Thanks that was good. John

i've only just started this, and its my first ever build of a wooden ship and reading this you have all got me petrified!
i have a 10 week old puppy and a 11 month old cat!
my only work space is my computer desk which is largely occupied by 2 keyboards 3 monitors the tower 2 mice a gamers pad ashtray coffee cup coaster tool box and a small disk with "bits" in.
not a whole lot of room to build on but managable, just freaking out over loosing parts, although i did manage to build a cannon and not loose a single bit yet.
as for super glue, assembling the cannon, used a cocktail stick to spread the glue out still got my fingers coated and stuck together, one point the cannon itself was stuck to my middle finger.....not a good day!

1. Hull planks are only so thick...stop sanding when you see the floor!

14. The actual size of a millimeter mysteriously changes between the time you take a measurement and the time you cut the wood!
15. The probability of loosing a part of the kit is directly proportional to its importance!
16. The parts supplied by DeAgostini are always 3 mm less than what you need to finish the model!
17. After completing the Victory Model your swear box should pay off your mortgage!
Still...its all good fun (isn't it???)
