Issue 14 came today re 2nd Deck. Instructions re launch already done previously. First pic removing waste section of backboard as per instructions. Second pic gluing down 2nd Deck. Third pic cannon chambers painted black as per instructions. Note in pic one rib frame broken second from stern. Had broken prior and glued OK, but got caught in jumper while fitting 2nd Deck. Now re-glued OK. Will reinforce once I know where other fittings above 2nd Deck go. Regards George Building HMS SOTS

Hi Brex. Thanks for compliments appreciated. Re your query. If you check back on my "Dead Whale" pic you'll see where I left recess slots for the brackets where any infills otherwise would have covered. That so I could use bracketed base board as long as possible. Now that you have full infill you won't get any warping or twisting of keel so one way you could do it if recessing into infills now a little difficult is to just remove the two/three centre angle brackets and rely on the end brackets which are clear of infills to hold upright for you. With the infills it sits pretty good anyway. Shortly I will make up clamp set up re Andy's URL before planking starts on bottom. Then bracketed base board no good anymore. Eventually when more top decking after planking I'll either purchase a cradle as UK distributor has or make something up to hold stable. Regards George Building HMS SOTS

Appreciated greatly. Yes, re the broken rib. Have glued on again and when dry will give another coat of glue over the break. Maybe reinforce later if room to do. Regards George Building HMS SOTS

Hi George..Great work mate!! The rib that was broken is exactly the same as mine, same rib same place!! With mine, I noticed that there were no gun ports in that area, so I carefully removed 2mm of decking either side of the broken rib and slipped in two pieces of scrap wood (from the dye frame that the rib came from with that issue)down either side of the break, clamped them until the glue dried over night, and when it came to the planking, ensure that that rib had a double dose of glue between plank and rib all the way up..it is now solid!! Sorry for the long tip on how to get around the problem but it worked for me!! Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

And thank you for the tip regarding the rib break and how to fix permanently. I wasn't sure what may have gone there re parts, but you've cleared that problem up for me so again greatly appreciated. I'll get on to it and still have all the dye frames in a pile as I did consider some might come in use sometime. Regards George Building HMS SOTS

Hi George, You are right, the reference to Moby Dick may raise some ire so I'll refrain from the word whale. It (the not to be mentioned sea mammal of large proportions) sits nicely on the dock with the bow and stern restrained. Stability is fine and much more than I expected. Sorry to hear of the broken rib though. By the sound of it J7E's suggestion will do the job. Lucky there was no gun port! Great work by the way. Brex.

Looks like there is a censor at work as I did type the title Moby 'D' right so not sure how this became Dancer

Hi Brex. Yes most forums open to public have automatic exchange words for any words someone might consider offensive. Even for those like you used which was acceptable really in your usage. Same word of course can be used in an offensive manner. They usually have a full list of words right or wrong. Regards George Building HMS SOTS

Made repair recommended by Jonny7England (Thanks Jonny ) on broken off rib frame. Reinforced and reinforcing should not interfere with any fittings. No cannon port this rib frame. Regards George Building HMS SOTS
