Are you clairvoyant Data. I have been thinking of this. Authentic lights would have been candles and oil lamps, so the wavelength would be quite yellow for authenticity. Low intensity LEDs should make this quite practicable. I am thinking of going a bit further and generating smoke for the Trafalgar diorama.Cool Would be nice to get it coming from the guns although I suppose a soundtrack would then be required.Mellow Please say if you think I'm getting carried away.LOL

Looks like we have the new steven spielberg epic being drawn up here, just brilliant ideas, those LED light in lanterns would be awesome, search the net, Ive seen just this and it really brings it to like.
As for the smoke, if you can get it looking real, more the better, keep 'em coming.

I tell ya, this is the most buzzing forum I've ever been on, so much anticipation, I wonder what it be like when the hull is being planked, hope it stays as it is now.

I'm wondering if it may go a bit quiet when we are all planking. Apart from a few expleatives that is. Scared In my case I hope prior study on here will have smoothed the way, so to speak, and eliminate my cries for help. Unsure I'm sure there will be a few from others who have not had the time to do their research.LOL

Lighting up the "sea" can add dramatic effect too.

I was thinking of placing some grain of wheat bulbs inside, but depends on how many complete guns I can get hold of, don't want to light up false cannons!!!

Would love to be able to look closely at the model through the ports and see complete decks of guns... but apparently we are only going to get 20 odd complete guns.

At the risk of being a 'wet blanket' it would not be authentic to light up the gun decks on Victory. Great care was taken to ensure that no lights were left burning during the hours of darkness owing to the fire risk. One of the midshipman had the duty during the night watches to visit below decks to ensure no lights were burning.

The exception to this, of course, would be the great cabin and the wardroom.

Sorry but that is the way it was!

Should Tarbrush want sound effects for his battle scene, he could do worse than visit the link I put on under the topic Victory's Broadside in the Historical Discussions area.

Truly awesome at full volume (but only when the wife is out!!)

I want to allow anybody that views the ship up close to see how the gun decks look inside at the flick of a switch. Not to be left on.

not sure about the lighting up bit....you would need easy acess to the interior..(thats if a bulb goes).....as for smoke effects i would get a flash ....a bang....and then no boat....LOL

Hi there
It sounds lik a great idea to mee. I was thinking about getting her light up myself. I'm going to use yellow LED's to simulate oil lamps.
The biggest concern is to hide on/off swith cnd charging sockets for batterys.

I'm an electri.cian by trade so I'll do my best to get it right. I'll keep you informed

Hi
I'm quite happy to help you out guys with designing the lights.
We just need to decide how many light you want.
