Me too Andy but sometimes you just have to go back to your childhood modelling days and hope the terrible moulds where just a dream! one thing I noticed is they could have made 2 kits from the excessive flash and 1/4 inch diameter sprue's Spencer

Well the horrible gaps have been filled with P38 (no not the aircraft, the filler! although you could have got one in there.) Sanded and formed. A light coat of primer and then ready for the panel lines to be re-scribed and some of the other details that got sanded away to be remade with plasticard later.. Thanks for the comments guys Steve.. You can get it from Halfords.. It's Isopon P38 easy sand for car panel dents and Scratches. Comes in very handy and been using it on the Senna tribute build also. Regards Spencer

Hi Spencer, Wtg , that Isopon brings back some memories Filling in the rust holes of my first cars, with either fibre glass or alli mesh then shaping with P38. Don`t know what it`s like now, but you had to be very careful with the hardener. It used to set in seconds if you over done it. Shape looking good, can`t wait to see the finished product. Then all we need is for Deag to bring out a kit, so I`ll have a German, English, Japanese and American WWII plane set. Keep up the good work Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Another small update and some red added to the tail section with a little panel line deffinition using pastels. The tail section was intentionaly over spayed as when I lay down the Metal Foil, I dont have to worry about leaving it too short, so plenty of room to get it right. The other pictures show a couple of panels done in the Bare metal foil and where layed down in different directions so the grain of the foil changes per panel. This will then be polished up once most of the foil is down all over the Mustang.. Thanks for looking in Spencer Warthog attached the following image(s):

not a lot to update on today apart from some more Bare metal foil added to the rear tail section and one of the wings. Once all the panels have been done the airframe will get a light going over with 8000 micromesh finished off with a polishing of T-Cut to bring out the polished finish but a long way to go yet... That's a very luxurious finish/effect! Have you tried using good quality aluminium foil food wrap?

Hi Loki and thanks for your kind comment I have seen that people have used baking foil on models but having to use the Microscale foil adhesive as well as putting on the foil etc seemed to me to be doing 2 jobs when the Bate metal foil is self adhesive and does the job just as well, plus if I used the baking foil the missus would have had a nightmare getting the Bare metal foil off the Sunday roast! Let's hope so laying down very thin sections of BareMetal foil is taking it's time but very much worth it and satisfying at times! Spencer

Ive been looking at that foil stuff on ebay Spence, now Ive seen it action I have to get some. So much better than messing around with foil and special adhesive. Your model is going to look very special, cant wait to see it. I think Im going to have a go buy a kit to go with that bare metal now! Maybe a Sabre or Electric Lightening Steve
